  1. I like mine the best. I think the finger lakes will look like scratches to the average person. Imagine hundreds of cachers going, "HEY MINES SCRATCHED!!! I WANT A NEW ONE!!!" It'll happen! I am not a big fan of the quadrant thing. I think the most obvious thing left off the coin that EVERY person alive thinks about first when they think of NY is New York City. How about a skyline in the background turning into actual Mountains. Want a good layout? Walk outside and look at your license plates. Thats exactly what you should be going for in your own way. Mike
  2. We will talk about the icon at the next get together. Just so everyone knows, the coins are being minted as we speak. They should arrive in a few weeks. Almost there... Mike
  3. Wow that is so cool. Hey, saw this awesome show on Animal Planet one night. This snake was eating this frog but it didn't bite it it just swallowed it whole. BIG MISTAKE! The frog turned out to have poisonous skin and it paralyzed the snake. The snake was about to slither away when it just stopped and got this look on its face like, "Uh oh, I think I shouldn't have eaten that last froggy!" Snake died and the frog wiggled its way out of the snakes mouth and hopped away like no big deal... It was so cool. I can't believe you stayed to take pictures. I would have been out like trout! Be careful Dave. Mike
  4. There's a special prize attached to the "Super Bowl Bound" TB that's to be handed off at this event - two tickets to Saturday night's Giants/Panthers football game! Thanks to "BenGates" with the ABC Television Network! --Marc August 18, 2005 @ 7:52 AM N40° 46.565' W073° 58.756' WooHoo two big Giants fan here!!! Mike and I are probably going to ride our mountain bikes in from Jersey. Are you going to raffle off the tickets?? Looking forward to meeting everyone. Nikki (Jerseytrex)
  5. $6!!!! Thats insane!!!!!!! What a rip off!
  6. This is kind of what I meant. I just grabbed photos off of Google and collaged them together. The minter should be able to turn whatever layout you decide on into a nice 3-D sculpted looking coin like the geowoodstock coins. Mike
  7. I like the front side. For the back I would suggest something like the NY License Plates. Try and meld those seperate regions into a collage of sorts. Nix the whole quadrant thing and put the Falls running along on the bottom with liberty's face top right facing right. Put the finger lakes and Pine trees with maybe even a couple of Adirondak peaks behind in the upper left. I know that someone took some time to put it together so I don't want to step all over what you currently have. Glad to see one is in the works. We will def take a few. Mike
  8. Why would anyone want to do such a thing? This thread is going to be here for a while! (Maybe it will even reach 100 pages like the San Diego Thread is about to.) So now it's about the numbers in here as well? I can help out with that.
  9. 800 seems so far away. Wow great job there Kber! -Mike
  10. Congratulations to a great caching duo!!! Only 200 to go!

  13. Well we MIGHT be in the area this Saturday. We are debating on whether to hit up Ramapo Res. or to maybe do some in this area. We arent sure yet. But if we do maybe we'll stop by. Good luck, Mike Ps. Aaron Weed sent me an email saying the coin proofs should arrive at anytime this week. Hopefully they will get here today or tomorrow so I can bring them to the I Scream event.
  14. Depends on where in San Diego you are staying. SD metro is about 1/3 the size of the whole state of Jersey. Also, it's obscenely dense with caches. (~ 1500 in SD Metro and another 700 in the boonies). --TT-- Thanks -TT- Oh sorry we are going to be in Pacific Beach. We'll probably hit Balboa Park plus the kyaking one in La Jolla sounds neat. Nikki (Jerseytrex)
  15. Mike, my caching partner wrote that he thought WJTBs are everywhere. I don't agree with him either. I saw more when they were first released then I do now. Some will be kept, some will be lost, and others will keep on moving. As a result their numbers will drop. But I still don't agree with ONLY putting them in extremely hard caches. By the way TucsonThompsen, Mike & I are headed out to San Diego in a few weeks are their any caches that stand out which you recommend??? Thanks, Nikki
  16. Congrats!! I hope you get it with the the fifty thousand they offer each family. Just becareful on how they portray geocaching. I saw a couple of episodes of that show where they portrayed different people's lifestyles or hobbies as being STRANGE! Good Luck!
  17. Can't say for sure but we're usually done by 1 or 2ish on these things. Ya can leave earlier if need be. Ah the shore trail, we know it well! What exactly are you guys going to do? CITO and prunning? We can't make it as we are headed to either the beach or a Mets game. Not sure which yet. Have fun guys! Mike
  18. Well I don't mean to make it sound like I am really pissed off about it. Actually, I wish we could mess around with them. There are some great altered photos along with some imaginative props. These are my picks: I'm a Yankee Doodle Doggie The Next Generation of GeocachingCactus WranglingJeep FlagshipSparklers on the BeachOld Glory
  19. SO what exactly, do most people not get about, "No Photoshoped entries allowed."???? Some of them are really cool looking but they are not allowed considering the rules. Also, thanks for the woderful cropping job Jeep!!! Anyone who wants to check it out it's called "Old Glory" I am not whining for votes here, I just believe they could fix things a little bit. Personally I lik ethe one with the Jeep resting on the dog's head in front of the American Flag. It's a perfect high resolution, and color toned photo with a little humor in it. Sorry I am at work so I dont have time to include links. Got to go.... Mike Jereseytrex
  20. We were caching the area last weekend and drove past the location. Looks like fun to us!! See you all there! Mike Jerseytrex
  21. Hi Everyone, I'm looking for an unregistered Midwest Geobash Coin. I hope someone out there in our Geo-Abyss can help me out. I designed the New Jersey coin and they will be minted within the month. I can promise you an even swap plus when they come in it will be one of the first mailed out. Please email me if you are interested. Thanks, Jerseytrex
  22. What do you mean that WJTB's are hard to come by? They are everywhere! If you are having trouble then go to a cache event. The last one we had, had about 5 WJTB's there. I get more annoyed about general TB thieves than Jeep TBs. Regular TBs have a had (in some cases) a decent amount of time put into them. When someone steals it, it makes you wonder what kind of person the average cacher is out there that they have to steal someone's plastic toy? I realize alot of people just honestly lose them sometimes. It happens. I had a TB missing for a year and it popped up in some cache somewhere and the person who held it must have switched names and dropped it off somewhere. Maybe they lost it and then found it one day while spring cleaning..... It happens more than you think. Jerseytrex
