  1. 20 minutes max and often less. If it is there you find it if the owner buried it in a hole I'm not digging it out.
  2. We open a Pocket Query (GPX) in Google Earth and there are no icons for the caches. All of the caches show in the temp folder. When we click on a cache name the info box appears in GE but dissappears when we click off of the name. We have tried to change the icon in GE but it still does not show. We have deleted and reloaded the file to no avail. We have transfered from the temp file to a permanent file im My Places and no change.
  3. Is there some easy to load waypoints directly from EZGPS to 3-DTopoQuads? Up to this point I have loaded the waypoints from EZGPS to my GPS then loaded from the GPS to the map program. This is a problem because all the waypoints in the GPS are loaded to the map program. Any ideas?
  4. That would be nice, but for all the fun I get out of $30 preyear, I would not ask for to much. I realy appreciate the game.
  5. But I could not look at the identifier and tell for example that the cache is traditional or the location on the world, is that correct?
  6. This sounds like fun. Do you have the waypoint of one so I can look at it and set one up in my area?
  7. Is there any logic to how the waypoint identifiers (ie.GC7633) are assigned?
  8. I discovered my mistake. Your lines work it is just case sensitive. Thanks again Red Barron
  9. Spanner & Crew, I am a premium member where do I get Spinner? Thanks, Red Barron
  10. Dear CYBret, thanks for the idea. I have tried it with both Word Pad and MS Word. The code changes in the text file, but the symbol dosen't change. Please look over your code to see if there is a step left out. Thanks a million. Red Barron
  11. Is there some way to assign a different waypoint symbol to the caches & BM's as you down load them from the website so all the waypoints in a particulardownload has the same symbol? That way when you want to delete the set from your GPS it would be easy to do. Maybe make this a Premium Member feature.
  12. I receive a loc and prc every friday just like clock work. From time to time when I travel I set one up for the location I travel to and aways get them the next day. Thanks for the great job!
  13. Another idea hit me. How about having a lat long start point and a lat long end point, then just set the query for however wide you want. Like the radius feature is now.
  14. I have placed about 25 caches counting the multicaches. All I do is set my GPS down while I hide the cache. This normally takes a 4-5 minutes or less. I don't even attempt averaging or this multi hit business as it is not possible to tell which hit is the "best". By the time I have hidden the cache I mark the spot and use that waypoint for the lat & long. To this point I have not had anyone not find any of my caches. When I post the cache on the site I bring up the topo map on the cache page after posting to make sure it looks right in relation to other land features. When looking for a cache I goto the lat. long. and figure the cache is in a 50' radius. I have yet to not find a cache that way unless the lat. long. are way off. Most of us are using a $150 machine how accurate do you expect?
  15. The one of the sites was about 350-500' due south of the cache. I suppose that may have been a typo. Another was using dd.mm.ss instead on dd.mm.mm, these caches have been placed as part of a high school class. I understand that another cacher has informed the teacher of the messup. It seem he dosen't care.
  16. I have not but from the find notes that several others have put up. The cachers must know of the problem and have not replied at least not on the cache page nor have they correct the lat. 7 long.
  17. We have several new cachers that are placing caches in our area. I'm not sure what they are doing wrong, other than thier GPS may be set to DDMMSS or something else. I feel in the message on how to post a new cache if the cacher was told to look at the topo map of thier cache page to see if the location looked right on the topo it might help getting the coordinates right the first time.
  18. Have you considered giving the option to use an icon other than waypoint dot in the query, so when your GPS gets full you could delete an entire set of waypoints? A second idea would be to select caches along a line of longitude or latitude so when traveling the query would show caches along the route? Thanks for all you do.
  19. If you want to get into how accurate a GPS is goto Dave Wilson's site or talk to a surveyor that uses the $70,000 units. You will come away with the idea that if you can get with in 50' you are doing great. So what good is averaging? I have found that when I get close to a location if I stop a couple of minutes. Then the accuracy is about as good as it gets.
  20. I hate to burst your bubble but it is Coors, not CORS. Coors is also known as Colorado Koolaid. You can get it at most stores it anywhere from a six pack to an eighteen pack. Best when drank cold.
  21. I will do both as to get as much experience as possible in a trip. In my area many of the bench marks are in neat areas. There are getting more caches so there is more to look for. At one time I had hit all the caches in 80 miles.
  22. There is a limited number of caches in a 100 mile radius of my home. I have found most of them. So my finding just slows down until I can travel or get others to hide caches.
  23. In my area I checked with BLM and USFS about the general idea of Geocaching and neither of the agencies had a problem with it or placing caches on public land. As far as private land goes well that is a different matter. There are people in this area that will shoot any trespasser, not just geocachers. So I would stay off private land if it is posted. If the land is posted and you don't have a trespass authorization note on your person, you win a free trip to the county jail. Any fish and game officer can give you the trip.
