  1. Pardon my vehemance Hank, You do have the right to your opinion and I am not saying that you personally are a racist, for all I know you are an excellant dude. I am only pointing out that you have completely blamed all geocachers for the escapades of a few. Thank you for letting the rest of us know about this problem.
  2. TWO examples? Gee, how fair and rational you are. I am inspired to blame all of the persons of each race on the planet for the wrongdoing of one or two individuals. Gosh, maybe this is how profiling and racism begin. Thank you for the insight Georgey.
  3. I guess I am a little confused as to why people don't use their profile page for real pictures of themselves and their avatar to do what avatars, in my opinion, are meant to do: amuse and confound. I am not condemning anyone in any fashion. Difference is what makes this world fun to experience.
  4. If we're using Starbuck's as an example, I think the analogy would be that they stop offering pastries altogether, but nothing changes in terms of their coffee/tea/frappachino offerings. In place of the the pastry counter, they've decided to open up an entire pastry store next door and offer a free pastry to anyone who buys a coffee at the old store. Unfortunately, there were a few dry bran muffins that used to be offered at the old store that are no longer offered at the new pastry store, and if you used to go to the Starbucks to specifically purchase that bran muffin, well, you're out of luck. We think you'll like one of these new pastries. If not, we have really good coffee too! Or perhaps you'd rather get your coffee at McDonald's! [Did he just promote his category again? Why yes, he did!] Totally cool analogy.
  5. Please don't show us what is under those kilties.
  6. After some actual thought ( and the resulting headache ) I think having all the stats on one page is a great idea. It will hopefully keep the stat hounds from wearing too many keyboards going back and forth compulsively.
  7. I still say ignore the bum and spend your money just as you would anyway. There are apparently enough serious paticipants that we should just be worrying about caches and not their dumb game.

    Ironic?

How in the world could Waypointing not be part of geocaching. It is a great compromise for those of us who can't post virtuals. The only cache I have tried to create was a virtual that was denied twice. Vehemently! And Groundspeak certainly took their sweet time in rolling the waypointing site out. I still think they owe me a latte at Starbucks.
  9. I think RKnight is pretty much on target. That is why I am currently using a photo of one of a semiurban deer family I have been photographing that exists in a watershed near the SF Peninsula. He ( or she ) is pretty darn cute and very brave.
  10. Ignore the bum and get on with life in your own fashion. If he were truely interested in actual tracking geocaching would just be another constellation and any control he puts on would be a variable which skews the results.
  11. OK, even though the Grounspeakers are spending there excessive profits on large and expensive vehicles, I woud settle for a free latte and then be satisfied that the huge 30 bucks for a heck of a lot of services is justified. But, gee Jeremy, since I helped pay for the Bentley can I use it next fridaynight?
  12. My intent is to include in the sculpture category those sculptures which would be kinetic af they were allowed to move. Such as a bird in flight or a helicopter landing. OOPS! I should have read the other thread first.
  13. Butter Brickle could be a waypoint since food is inapproprite for ground caches.
  14. Can I subtract money for forum posts I do not like and even more money to make up for the cretins who have flamed me even though I am innocent of all wrongdoing? Wait! I just did the addition and subtraction and Groundspeak owes me money!
  15. Are you saying there isn't? Perhaps I missed something here because it appears that several persons have posted that they can log waypoints without anyone checking to see if they have actually visited the site. Please correct me if I am wrong. For what it's worth I am not knocking your process. I think it is an excellant compromise.
  16. There should be some sort of check and balance. After reading the post on this thread it is obvious that the basic human condition of getting away with anything in the name of competitivesness applies.
  17. I like the idea of having two separate domains for two highly various endeavors. As some folks have said the waypoints are good for people who do not wish to hike around looking for little boxes and the traditional caches are good for those who do. It also may remove some of the hidebound whiners from a part of geocaching that a lot of us enjoy. And the biggest boon is that it allows physically challenged people to take more of a part in this sport. To remain on topic I vote to keep the scores separate.
  18. I'll put another supersized can on that.
  19. That looks like fun and the basic course is only 139 bucks. Thanks.
  20. Those are cool but I like the Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck band aids.
  21. Did you really mean causality and, if so, what does that mean in the context of your message?
  22. " Calvin pissing on Magellan ". Or maybe the little La Migra guy that is prevalent around here. Great Concept.
  23. EMachines notebook, Easy GPS and TMobile. Google was tough until I finally locate the upgrade for my Radeon IGP 320M.
