  1. If someone could make this an event it would be great. I am not to famiular with the local pub where I'll be staying, it has been a while I am afraid. So if someone can find a place either tell me and I'll set up the event or you can do it.

    cheers

  2. I know I posted a few months back about coming to London over Christmas Holiday but the time of our arrival is drawing near so I thought I would see if any UK cachers would be interested in getting together. My family and I will be in London from Christmas day through Jan 5th. So if possible I would like to met some UK cachers. We will be staying with my in-laws in S.E. London (E. Dulwich SE22). So if you live in London it would be nice to meet at a pub for a pint and many a cache or two. So leave a message here or send me an email.

    cheers

  3. I may see a catcher with over 1000 finds but did he really went out and find all of them????

For the 1000+ find cachers I know the smilie means they found 1000+, or what ever there number, is caches. I know one thing none of them post on the forums and complain about how many finds some one has. Do numbers matter, yes and no to the person who found 1000+ caches yes they had fun doing it and it is part of the game for some. No to me because well why should I care but I do have respect for the 1000+ folks I know because I know they have spent a lot of time doing it.

So why are there so many threads resent worring about peoples number maybe it is cache envy?

    cheers

  4. Get MicroSoft Streets and Trips and then you can load you waypoints in to it and plan your caching day using it so you can go from point a to b to c etc... and do it most effiecntly. A friend does this when we go cache and is is important for him as to get 10 caches in a day we may have to drive 100 miles.

    cheers

  5. For general hiking you dont need a gun. If your a city boy, as you state, then your really don't need a gun in the woods. This is because your more like to shoot a fellow geocacher, bushwacking througth the woods, then a bear. Animals are as scared of you as you are of them. So packing while geocaching just say NO.

    cheers

  6. Well for starters there geocaches are not allowed in NPS. So there is no worry there some states and locacl areas may allow them and yes you need to place them in such a way as not to cause social trails. Our local county parks check for this and if it starts to occur then they will pull the cache.

    cheers

  7. I would like to see automatic expiry on new caches, that would be a switch controled by Cache approval persons.

I think that a two year term is great.

    Misha

This is an old topic with the basic conclusion that there is no bases for an automatic archiving feature. There are some old caches here i.e. more then 4 yrs so why o'why????

    cheers

  8. i'd go w/geko 101...as basic and simple andas cheap as possible...love mine!

No go with the Garmin Etex Yellow, The Geko 101 does not allow you to download waypoints which your eventually want to do, typically after you misenter your first cache waypoint and end up in the middle of a building, LOL. So the Yellow is a good choice.

    cheers

  9. My understanding is that during exercise (hiking) what you need is carbs not protein which is metabolized differently. The easiest carbs to assimilate are simple sugars. They're also the tinder that starts the fat burning process. In short, carry some high sugar low fat candy. Cheap effective, simple.

You need both. If you just take in simple sugars then you probable end up in hypoglycemic rebound which is not fun, LOL. So a good mix is better. Besides I like power bars for what they are.

    cheers

  10. How does one handle it when caches that were previously archived are reactivated by the owner as new caches? The owner archived them and now, after reestablishing the same caches, they show up in my queries as caches I haven't found and all of the previous logs are gone.

I'd prefer not to have these show up as unfound caches but it doesn't seem right to go "find" them again and log them in order to make them go away. Any advice? Surely this must have happened before. How does one fix the issue?

A person can not unarchive a cache, he may request a review to do such but an individual can not do this. So some one places a cache back where he/she had a cache prior well it is a NEW cache it is that plain and simple so if you don't want to go back to the area then ingnore it else go get another smile face.

    cheers

  11. Skovar, The Leprechaun's does not owe you an apology, you owe him one.

And because you are a obvious sock puppet you should be banned

That that should make you laugh.

    Joe

Maybe you should be banned for spouting off when you don't know what you are talking about. You've done it quite often, and then you wait for (other) site volunteers to extricate you from the mess you created.

I recently deleted my finds. If you wish to check their legitimacy, I encourage you to seek out the logbooks and view them personally. I have also found many caches and signed many logbooks without claiming finds online. There's a lot of evidence out there, in several (16, I think) states. Go find 'em. "Hee Hee"

I think I smell an agenda surfacing. I could be wrong. I've been up for over 24 hours. *Yawn*

Agree as Skovar seems to be a TROLL.

    cheers

  12. Keep 8-10 NiMH batteries constantly in the charger, ready to replace the discharged ones.

I use a charger for 4 batteries, and circulate 8 batteries, only for my Garmin GPSmap 60CS.

If I am right you are suppose to unplug the charger from the wall etc... when the batteries are done. I don't think it is tha important but what my charger says so I usually do it sometime within a week or so of the batteries being charged. I think Ihave 4 sets of batteries, 4 2050 mamp hr and 4 2300 mamp hr batteires and noe I don't mix them I think before I use them or charge them. So I typically carry 4 with me in a nylon pouch one set in the GPSr an one set floating around the house or in the cherger to exchange for the set I change out over the weekend. This works for me.

    cheers
