The GPSr does NOT find cache it takes to the general area of a cache 10 meters or so and it is up to YOU to find the cache. You may have to hunt for MANY hours even thought the cache is within 5 feet of you. So don't think the GPSr is a magic locater. Like it say on the main page "Your are the search engine." cheers

Incredibly Stupid Auto Routing Question
AtoZ replied to jjjandrbaker's topic in GPS technology and devices
It is amazing what it will do. Middle of Utah and it took us to the cache throught a maze of dirt 4 wheeling roads. You can set the preferances. I just did a route and it kept taking some minor hwys but I changed the setting and now it goes interstate and the way I wanted to go. It is a great program. cheers -
WOW such a moving piece, I couldn't have said it better. A single tear is rolling down my cheek. I just can say more you have said it all. Basically a lame cache is on that has NO imigination. A film canister in a rock pile, my 6 year old son can do better. It may be in a lame location or the location maybe part of the imigination of the cache but if it is well thought out and has varity then it is a worthy cache. cheers

There is NO software that will give you a detailed info. The City Select is about the best transfer waypoints from PC using GSAK and City Select. Then use GPSSonar on the PDA to view the .gpx file info. If you have questions email me cheers

I am not crazy about Gorilla Glue as I have found it wants a rough surface to work best. I have had problems with it sticking to plastics and metals with a smooth surface. But maybe a little coarse sandpaper would do the trick. Super Glue seems to work pretty well. cheers

LOL so your willing to have "unwanted personality types" go to someone else land but not YOURS. Humm seems kind of a nose in the air kind of thing. Okay kidding but really if you are willing to have people go to some place else to find a cache then why not your own property. And it is well just...... cheers

I can NOT believe that it would have changed 5 or 7 degrees as that is over 5000 miles one way and 7000 miles the other way. You might mean 5 or 7 1000ths of a minute or even 100ths but not 5 or 7 degrees. I did a confluenc and it is hard to get it pinned down but it is possible. Realize that your are at a calculated position and it is the GPSr's calculation of where you are at. Also remember that a GPSr has an error of approximately 10 meters. So if you want more well there is no practiacal way to get it unless you go with surveyor equipment but I said practical. cheers

I have a reradiating antenna for use in my camper. You can try it in your RV but you may need to get an external antenna, about $50 or so. I am amazed with the satallite pick up I get with mine. Your also need to use a cigeratte lighter plug in as the anttenna will run down the batteries in the GPSr a little faster. cheers

I carry a separate analog compass as well. It helps to take the bearing and do a sighting and then head that way. Also it never runs out of power like a GPSr builtin compass. cheers

Either don't look or "dadgum the torpedoes and full steam ahead." Just be descrite putting it back. cheers

Wnat Keeps You Multi-thousand Finders Going?
AtoZ replied to FiddlinFool's topic in General geocaching topics
But it is the novelity. You need to travel outside your area and experiance caching more to see varity. But then again when I think I have a new idea I see it is done some place else. I only have one cache that I think is totaly unique and hard to find for thus such a reason. You have to learn to think out side the box. cheers -
I would rather find a film cannister in a Wal-Mart parking lot, something I havn't done yet hummmm. Then a LAME multi. And I have found some pretty LAME multies. Just because it is a multi doesn't make it a good cache. To me what makes a good cache is one that I can see the person put some GOOD imagination into doing. There is a cache in down town Denver that isn't particulary exciting to do but it is very imaginative and I laughed two days after words about it. So a micro can be a very fun cache to hide and seek if the person doing it put effort into it. Just as a multi can be lame if it is just count the nails in the board and add to some other number to go off and count the fence rails etc... cheers

Well I would concure with those that say variaty is the spice of life. If I do 5/5 all day then they get boring but throw in a 1/1 and it is a great day, LOL. It takes all kinds and yes micros are cheap and easy to place but when you get a 100 TNLNSL on an ammo can what is the point. Put what ever you like out and hunt what ever you want. But Yes it is more enjoyable to find an ammo can after a 5 mile hike then a film cannister. cheers

sounds like a 2 or 2.5 to me. If your not having to climb then it is a piece of cake. cheers

Dogs are easily distracted and will always seem to wonder off or run off if something gets there attention. I eould advise a leash and some doggie treats but I would not let the dog run free. cheers
-
your GPSr will do it just change the location units. cheers
-
IT is not the satellites it is the US Goverment they dont want you to know where you are so they rig the satellites to give you false coordinates. I mean look at the military GPSr....... Okay get real 20 to 30 feet is NORMAL. Shees does anyone read the forums does anyone read there owners manual?????????????? cheers

LOL I just thought backpackers were people that couldn't climb. I mean it seems kind of pointless to just walk aimless in the woods. cheers
