  1. If you have to pay to get in then it is considered a COMMERICAL cache and would not be approved under the guidelines. cheers
  2. If you adjust the "hidden" date after it's reviewed, it will show up as new for that week. I used to make that date the date I actually hid it, but sometimes that was a couple of days before I submitted it, then it takes a couple more to get approved. Shees now I am scare that is what I do so if Saxman is doing it, LOL. Yes tht is a good thing to do. I had a cache from start to finish took like three months so the start date was in October but was finally approved in Jan, so just adjust the start date. Also if you I have heard if you bribe your approver with moonpies it helps. cheers
  3. I agree if in doubt RESET. Then again there is the old saying give a man a watch and he'll know what time give a man tow watches and he'll never know what time it is. The same is true GPS you may have two units agree and you may have diffeances. I have wondered why my caching partner is wonderiing off 60+ feet from me when I am standing on the cache or vice versa, LOL. You might check this out a bit more before you do a reset. Go ouit in a field with the tow units and see what coodinates each gives. Do a bit of troubleshooting first. Of if you dont want to then just RESET. cheers
  4. Palm IIIxi is a good choice for about 30 bucks on ebay. There are a numbre of programs that you can use. That being said I had a Palm IIIxi and a couple of PocketPC and I find the PocketPCs ueasier to use. The off set is for a PockePC your pay a few hundred bucks for a Palm your pay 30. If you don't have a PocketPC PDA and you buy a Palm you never know the differance and it will work wonderfully for you. cheers
  5. There is also a permancy rule and I don't think ice fishing would meet that. But an event would be cool. cheers
  6. Not true. Accuracy and precision are very different concepts. Here is one explanation. Precision is the number of significant digits in a calculation. Accuracy is the degree to which the calculated number corresponds to the true number. Acutally precision is how repeaable the answer is not the number of digits. Look at it like someone firing a bow and arrow they may not hit the bulls eye but they have a tight grouping of the arrows so they are precise but not accurate. This is the scientific view. The nuber of signfinate figures was whtt fuzzylogic was acutally refering to as precision. cheers
  7. Yes it will halp on any vechile. A 18 wheeler is NOT aerodynamic and look at the saving it gave sissy. Thanks for the advice. cheers
  8. It sounds as if you should use your IGNORE feature as you have some sour grapes over the issue. There is a cache in a ROCK PILE near my house and it is a restircted area though the owner has chose to ignore that even when I told him in person. So IGNORE for it. If you don't like it don't do it, it is that simple. People have to take resonsibility for there own safety. That said when ever I place a cache I have to think is this safe for people, sorry I can't uce the verbage I want. So since you don't like the cache just ignore it and move on. cheers
  9. This is NOT valid as the most minutes you can have is 59.999 so he has made a mistake some place or he is giving you the coordinates in something other then lat/long. Ask what corridnate system he is using. It is NOT UTM either so maybe he just wrote it down wrong. cheers
  10. ... But I have never seen in the last year that someone thought a cache should be approved snd posted it that it was done because other cache saye yeah approve it. cheers No one is claiming that caches are approved based on majority rule. However, many times we have seen that discussion in the forums can work out any issues with a cache. The cache is then either approved as is, or with acceptable changes. A perfect example is the thread from a couple weeks ago regarding a cache that was in a park, yet close to train tracks. But this was more likely from communication between the ower and approver taking place then GC.com relenting on it's policy of caches within 150 feet. This has happen here where the cache appeared to near a train track but once the owner explianed it was on a walkway over or under the track then it was apporved. But no policy changes occured just communication. That could have occured offline, so to speak. cheers
  11. This seems to be almost a USELESS thing to do as the approvers are not bound by what the community thinks. ... I disagree. On several occasions, caches were approved after being hashed out in the forums. That being said, I would recommend that BatteriesIncluded thanks those that answered his question and locks this thread. He should then follow his other courses of action to see if he can get the issue resolved. If they fail, start a new thread, I'd love to hear about his issues. The whole point is GC.com is NOT democratic and many a time I have been told there is NO presidence involved when placing a cache. Just because it wsa done before doesn't mean it can be done now. What I have seen when posting a failure for a review to approve a cache because it had gone beyond the posted 72 hors that another review would invesitgate and usually the cache would be approved if there were NO problems. But I have never seen in the last year that someone thought a cache should be approved snd posted it that it was done because other cache saye yeah approve it. cheers
  12. This seems to be almost a USELESS thing to do as the approvers are not bound by what the community thinks. There is also NO presidence for placing a cache just becaues it wsa done before does not mean it can be done now. So I guess you can try to appeal it but I have found most approves will work it out it just may take time as they have RL interferance and are not at our beck and call 24/7/365.24. So try to work it out. cheers
  13. you can use your GPSr just tell it your at point A and then tell it to GOTO point B or you can calculate it if it in the same UTM quad or use Fuxxylogic cool program. cheers
  14. I've done it and had it done to me. What I can say though is know your audiance what works in one area may not in anohter. cheers
  15. One per month I would say. But for you Sept one a minute. cheers
  16. It is a high tech game so why not use any high tech means. Besides does it matter. If I am out a ways and know I will not return to the area use a lifeline. It is only a game. cheers
  17. If it is in the forest the use an ammo can. You would be suprised at how grass can swollow an ammo can. Besides other then your camo the cache is unimaginaative. I mean if you cant find it with out knowing exactly where it is. Place it where it belongs in a city park or some place but in the FOREST use something bigger dont waste the spot. I mean I have a micro dot I placed at the end of a 20 mile hike........ cheers
  18. If they didnt sign the log then it is no find, unless you say otherwise. Like if the cache was missing and they sent you a picture of where it was or some such thing. cheers
  19. If the coordinates were off by 300 feet then why didnt you want the proper one listed. It is a multi and as such the first coordinates listed should be for the first stage. I know you didnt have time to check but as such there is nothing you say in the listing that is is not at the listed coords. This could be due to a transicrption error on your part when entering the coords. cheers
  20. GC.COM is a listing service with some guidelines, I wouldn't say any more. But it is NOT a RULE enfrocing agency. If you don't like the guys caches or have a problem with them then email they guy and tell him. But DON'T ask for more rules. cheers
  21. Is there any thing in GC.COM GUIDELINES that prohibits you from having a cache listing that says you can not says you can ont use the final on one cache to send you to another cache. If I have cache XXXXX and in it it says to find cache YYYYY go to corrdinates NAAAAAAAAAA WBBBBBBBBB or something to that affect. Or a puzzle cache that says you have to find cache AAAAA BBBBB and CCCCC and in them is a clue to find cache NNNNN. I know there are caches that do it but can it be done NOW as presidence has NO responsibility. Cheers
  22. you might be asking to much I did a quick search on Ebay and the highest price I found was 80 bucks. I had looked at one in the past but now hava Ipaqs and Dells. But then there is always the possibility for the kids if the price is right. cheers
  23. What is your purpose in buyinb a PDA type of GPSr. I have the cf Que 1640 and like it a friend has the iQue the Palm based unit. But again why do youwant a PDA GPSr is the real question. cheers
  24. There are mny reason for signal lose. Though I am not famiular with the Rino120 I have caused signal lose from blocking the satellites with my body, it depense up on the satellite constillation. It depends upon the tree cover sometimes I am in what I consider light tree cover and I'll get "lost sat" message. But it is not un common the Rino has a quad helix antenna which I think is the best but again it works best when perpendicular to the ground instead of parallel like a patch type antenna in the Etrex. So there can be many factors. What I suggest is you find a GPSr that you trust and don't over analize it. Buy simple and cheap to start with is the other suggestion. cheers
