  1. Sunny skies and fair winds! Enjoy the cruise while we slog around here in the ice and freezing temps! Happy birthday Mrs. Shop99er!!
  2. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy Have a blast on your birthday!
  3. I dunno, Pepper... I think there are probably quite a few of us that would gladly trade with you right about now!
  4. The WSGA 2007 summer campout has been set for August 17-19 in Port Townsend. For more information, see the forum thread in the gc NW forums or the forums at the WSGA website forums!
  5. This year's WSGA summer campout will be held in scenic Port Townsend at the group camping facilities of the Jefferson County Fairgrounds. The camping area offers plenty of room for tents as well as RV's of any size, restrooms with free hot showers, and a big picnic shelter building with kitchen facilities. The location is about a half mile from historic Fort Worden State Park, and offers lots of opportunities for sightseeing, tourist activities, and of course...geocaching! Their Homepage gives a good idea of the facilities as well as photos. The camping fees will be a little higher than what's shown to reflect the increased 2007 rates as well as insurance coverage for the event. The dates are Friday, August 17 through Sunday, August 19 so mark you calendars now! More details to follow... Edit: added link
  6. Are you checking the day of the week you want it to run? If you are doing that and still aren't receiving the PQ's, there's nothing else you can do. I've had that problem myself occasionally in the past, when they don't get delivered. Sometimes they've gotten delivered days later, other times they have never showed up. That's why it's important to run a PQ earlier in the week if you're planning a weekend caching trip, for example -- at least you've got a backup to use if the PQ function quits working right before the weekend
  7. One of my Top 10, China Wall near Omak (page 100?)
  8. The WSGA's 48 North Chapter is kicking off the new year with a bang! Our next event has just been listed, to be held on Saturday, January 20, in Mount Vernon -- Rain, Rain, Go Away! Also coming up on Saturday, March 3, at a top-secret location in Skagit County, mark your calendars for The Great Rubber Duckie Caper and Potluck Lunch More details to follow shortly!
  9. Dick, When I went up there to do your virtual last summer, the fee was $20.00 -- and that was US greenbacks, not Canuck Bucks
  10. There's a store in Bellingham called the Paper Zone that stocks a large selection of these: 1x1, 1x2, 2x3, 3x3, 3x5, 4x4, 4x6 -- all in packs of 100. the smaller ones are about $1.50/100, the larger sizes around $2.00 If you wanted some I could send them over to you, the postage shouldn't be much unless you wanted a lot of them.
  11. Congratulations on the new gear, Blue J -- you made a good choice! Glad Santa finally decided to cough up the goods. And it sounds like you're finally getting your priorities straight -- a true cacher never lets work get in the way of what's really important (and we all know what that is) Now, can I put in a request for you to hide more of those uber-kool Ghost Town caches. Those are some of my favourites of yours to seek out
  12. Thanks for all the fun and hospitality you guys showed to me and Prying Pandora on our whirlwind trip over the pass to attend the CacheMas event and do some caching in and around Wenatchee. It was great to see so many at the event dinner and also to hunt the new caches that have been placed since my last trip over in September for the picnic. Merry Christmas to all! Half-Canadian and Scooter
  13. Woo Hoo MattAlbertson!! One hundred is a special milestone -- I think we all remember that one! I'm proud to have furnished a few of the caches that put you at that first major milestone!
  14. Don't get too complacent! You'll never know when one of us "up here" might forget our meds
  15. Wow, there's no grass growing under your feet, is there? Congratulations, Bob!!
  16. I am enjoying reading about the plans for the trip and sharing the excitement of those that are going. I will also look forward to hearing all about the fun, seeing the photos, etc., when they return. I hope that you will keep this on the public forum so that others who wish to vicariously join you will be able to read along -- those that would prefer not to can just skip this thread.
  17. Great idea! It would be great if you could expand this to include at least all of western WA, as Hydnsek suggested. I've got an event in the planning stages for the 48 North area on a Saturday at the end of January, but haven't listed it yet. It would be helpful to know what other events might be coming up around the same time to avoid conflicts.
  18. I'm back. Rested, massaged and waiting for the blisters to pop and the toenail to fall off... Did a little caching along the route. Talk about lazy and going for 1/1's, I was starting to look for caches to be handed to me, pen and log book in hand after mile 20. I decided even walking across the street was too far to go for a cache so they all had to be right on the route! A link to pictures will follow. Thanks to my hero Gadget who text'ed encouragement while I was hoofin' it. San Diego 2006 Walk photos No need to sign up to view the photos. Ignore the last 6, my firends are weird! Thanks for posting the photos, Robin. Some of them brought tears to my eyes. You're awesome!
  19. BC is a mighty big place! If you have some specific areas that you are interested in, the local cachers who live in those area can make some suggestions for you. Otherwise, you can, as a premium member, do searches called "pocket queries" that allow you to search for caches close to a local city or postal code, a known cache in the area, or local coordinates. Link to pocket queries
  20. I'll go for 2 sets, plus 5 of the 48 North.
  21. Sounds like you were the victim of an annoying busybody... welcome to the club! I was chased out of a neighbourhood the other day, while parked on a public road, by a self-proclaimed blockwatch captain who escorted me out of the area and followed me for 10 minutes in his car to make sure I wasn't going to circle back and return to pillage their homes Something that comes in handy is to prepare a standard answer ahead of time that you can automatically respond with that will put muggles in their place. Such responses could include "I'm a biologist studying the effect of (insert pest here) in the local area for my master's thesis", or "I'm a bridge inspector" (this one works well if you wear an orange vest and hard hat and carry a clipboard). If you sound like you're doing something official, most people will leave you alone. Congratulations on your milestone! You'll have this interesting experience to share at the next geo-event with other sympathetic listeners
  22. Scooter the Wonder Dog, who has close to 3,000 caches to her credit. She's a golden retriever, 8 years old this month.
  23. Thanks for the link, Brian. The cacher mentioned at the beginning of the article and featured in the photos is one of our WSGA 48 North members, Soilsqueezer and family.
  24. You're a real inspiration to us all, Robin. I'll be thinking of you along the way, walking in memory of so many including my Mom.
