  1. It's the same definition as is used by the rest of the world.
  2. Mirror on a telescoping shaft magnet on a telescoping shaft Multi-tool Duct Tape Wire from a coat-hanger Nikon D60 (and associated camera gear) Screwdriver (for all those electrical boxes) Water Various swag Cell phone (BB Storm) GPSr (Triton 400) A couple pens/markers paperclips ziplock bags (jeweler's size and sandwich size) extra AA batteries pocket knife pepper spray gloves
  3. Admitting you have a problem is the first step. I think these people can help.
  4. Your statement isn't very useful if you don't clarify.
  5. Every event that I've been to has had a log book... I've only been to a single event... and I expected a log book, but for some reason one wasn't present.
  6. I've seen two caches where the coords were intentionally fuzzy. They were both puzzle caches and the cache page made it very clear what the puzzle was. It worked well and they were fun. If it's a traditional cache with intentionally fuzzy cords... then your going to make a lot of people mad.
  7. I have two puzzle caches... 1 has coord checker and the other does not. I learned a valuable lesson with coord checker: People use it to cheat. For my puzzle, it's fairly easy to get all but one of the needed numbers. Instead of figuring out the puzzle people were using coord checker to brute force it. I designed my next puzzle in a way so that it's clear when you have figured out the system, and I promptly respond to e-mails asking for verification. I don't hold it against people who "cheated" in my first puzzle, but I'm certainly going to design my puzzles and cache-pages with that in mind in the future.
  8. I prefer my GPSr for searching for caches, but the features in trimble are a good accompaniment. Field-notes have been a lifesaver.
  9. Is there a work around for this? I think this is what has happened to my maps on the "printpreview/print page. I really used this "map" out in the field to help get me headed in the right direction on the right trail. Clodbuster 2 I'm using adblock and it doesn't block me. check your custom filters.
  10. Glad I wasn't the only one thinking that.
  11. This is why my next GPSr won't be a Magellan.
  12. retiredprof has a few like this: GC18776 - "Country Road" GC17FT5 - "Cache On the Road Again" GC15015 - "Puzzle City" I'm sure he has more...
  13. Oh? Anyway, if you've accepted the added risk that the placard creates then there is very little added risk of a coord vs GC Code. A thief who understands GPS and coordinates well enough to calculate the distances involved is likley to be familiar with geocaching and able to look up the coords.
  14. I've noticed the same thing and it has bugged me too. There is something we can do about it however... we can report them missing. I like to report them in two places... once in the found log and then once on each bug's log as a note. As long as either the Cache Owner or the Bug Owner are active and know what to do this will fix the problem. This seems to work about 20% of the time. Better then nothing. If there are a few other logs dating back a few months that say the bug isn't in the cache and neither the cache owner or the bug owner are marking them as missing then you can e-mail a reviewer who can mark it as missing. I've not done it before, but it's an option.
  15. In that scenario having the coords on the placard might be a better idea... I wouldn't want search and rescue to waste time trying to figure out how to create an account on geocaching.com. If it was a multi, a mystery or a member's cache then I would be screwed. I take back what I said previously - this makes seance for some scenarios. I was picturing city parks or the like.
  16. I think your over-generalizing from a handful of bad experiences.
  17. (link) I think I'd have fun with that one...
  18. I didn't find that law to read it, however defacing is just a variation of vandalism which is different than a magnet. I do wonder how a magnet counts as defacement. (link) *shrug*, not a very inspired hide anyway.
  19. I agree with StarBrand & the reviewer. Silly number games isn't enough to make an exception to the rule in my opinion. Besides, you could find some 9s in the coords within 2 miles.
  20. I logged my 199th just before the 9/9/9 event I went to.
  21. That tag won't accomplish your stated goals. At the best it will give you a false sense of safety.
  22. Replenish you cache as little or as often as you feel like. I would recommend not investing so much in your cache at one time, however.
  23. Youtube seems to like to modify or delete music videos... might want to make sure it was uploaded under an official account or just check on it occasionally.
  24. Feel free to take as many as you feel like moving along. It would be nice if you can help them along thier missions as well.
