  1. Nowadays I start wondering more often why the hell someone would be interested in such a thing: Event in Budapest What's the point of dumping 400 caches around a city in an area which is not really worth visiting? Just to be the first ones in Europe to host such an event with 400 new caches published? I discovered this cache, because we are planning our next trip to Budapest and I realized, that since our last visit a few months ago, there have been published so many small (and in my opinion) senseless powertrails. I admit: If I had the time and if the event location wasn't so far away, then I would attend this event - but I would refuse to look for even one of those 400 new caches. I know we could now discuss generally about power trails, but especially in / around Budapest the situation got worse... I don't like the direction where geocaching seems to be going.
  2. Ok, tanks a lot! Seems to me that we will need waterproof shoes
  3. Thank you, but the website doesn't work
  4. Hi, we will be going to Venice from Saturday to Tuesday. My question (as I can't really find anything on the internet) is: what about the high tide? Is it bad at the moment? Best regards, Fjordi
  5. I would like to try this one next year: GC2CY92 The descripion is in German, but it is a hike which takes 5-10 hours. Depending on your fitness and how many breaks you will make. There are no lodges where you can get something to eat or drink. It is part of the "Platinum" series and after you have found all those caches, you have really earned the Platinum title It requires swimming, hiking, biking, finding lost mines and castles and riddles. My goal for next year
  6. We have hidden a "Lord of the Ring" series in a mountain area near us. Some people who know LotR, write really nice log entries, considering themselves being part of the Fellowship of the Ring. That's always nice to read (in contrast of all the annoying "TFTC" logs )
  7. Wow This weekend I met a TB with the goal to travel to the moon
  8. My colleagues in office think I am a bit strange, because I am giggling in front of my computer Thanks!
  9. Well, then the km in the ranking will be right at the latest, when he/she drops it finally in a cache and leaves it there. The main thing is that they are counted
  10. When I went for a cache on the top of a rock last year, my nose started bleeding because I have a great fear of heights... I was so afraid and exhausted of climbing up the rock, trough a tiny cave in the rock, up again on the other side and then the whole way down. And since then my nose keeps bleeding But I found a T5 cache - and that counts
  11. Hi everybody, I couldn't find anything in my forums search: My TB takes part in a TB race. It travelled now from an Event in Scotland to Maryland. A great boost in my ranking But the log in Maryland, was a "visited" log in an Event cache. Now - according to the TB page and the TB race ranking - it is still in the hands of a cacher, altough it has been to a cache in the USA and therefore gained loads of km. But if it still in the hands of the same user since Scotland, the TB ranking seems to ignore the "visited" log. So my question is: are those new log types counted as "placed" logs? (the km distance on the TB's page is right - only the race ranking doesn't count it) The website is www.tb-run.com Best regards, Fjordi
  12. Ok, so it is determined by the number of waypoints in the listing...? But I have GC1XGH9 on my mind. The listing says, you should go to the castle which is located at the header coordinates. And then: "Go to the main entrance of the castle. Have a look at the beautiful castle and leave the red "V" to your right. Go ~100m down the street until you see your image. Don't be afraid because somewhere near this point you will (hopefully) find the cache." The red "V" is written on a pylon and "your image" is a street mirror. And the hint is magnetic and green - that's the bridge railing you can see from the point where the mirror is. So you don't adapt yourself by the help of coordinates. You have to interpret the clues right and you don't get final coordinates. It is some kind of riddle... And I would like to place the cache like that.
  13. Hi everbody, I want to hide a new cache and I am not sure whether it should be a Multi or Mystery. I don't want people to solve a mystery at home, but they should come to the location and solve it there to get the cache (with the help of an information board and something written on a builiding). But then I think, it looks somehow like a multi? But I have already found Mysteries, where you had to go to a certain location, and due to some hints you had to find your way to the cache. It means: you didn't have to calculate the final coordinates. Just work out the clues and get to the location. So is it automatically a multi, when you have to work out numbers to get the coordinates or can it somehow be a Mystery as well? I am a bit confused now. Best regards, Lisa
  14. Some time ago I have found a Micro under a bench in a little chapel. It was next to the doorway and the hint also led inside. It was no problem to find it.
  15. For my last cache I wanted to place under tree cover I waited until autum, when all the leaves were gone Of course this doesn't help fidning it, because when the leaves are back, the GPS signal is bad as well. But at least I could get exact coordinates
  16. I really like this feedback feature, too! I have already voted for some of the topics.
  17. And you find them scary...? While searching my first cache in Austria, I met this Grass snake. I knew she wasn't venomous and she was obviously busy - so I took my time to take some pictures. Usually I am afraid of snakes, but I thought, she wouldn't bite me, when she is aready eating
  18. I have looked it up in the dictionary and it should be a grass snake. The Austrian word would be "Ringelnatter" It is not venomous. I was just looking for the cache GCKDC9 where you have to cross a small stream at a fountain. Suddenly I saw something at my feet and it was this snake which had caught the fish. Then it was swallowing it and I could take lots of photos and was only inches away. I guess that's something you don't see twice in life.
  19. Oh, NOW I get it You can look at it in two different ways... I have never noticed that before. The triangular shape is not the fish's open mouth, but the snake's head.
  20. I have met fellow cachers a lot... Most times in our area, but we have also been to Salzburg where we have met 2 different cachers from Vienna and one cuple from Georgia/USA And when we were in Budapest in February, we met a couple from Sweden and some cachers from Hungary. Cachers are always easy to identify: they look at bushes, buildings, statues,... in a very strange way
  21. I have not really found it - but nevertheless it was there:
  22. I like those caches/places best, where the scenerey is exceptionally beautiful, where you have a great view or where you can learn more about geological or historical things. Ususally I prefer to go out into the nature. I don't really like all those caches in cities, where loads of Muggels are around and where you can just see some building or whatever. This is a cache, I am especially proud of - a T5. I have a huge fear of heights, so this cache will remain in my memory for ever. Or for example the arena in Pula (Croatia) Or simply at the sea
