  1. If this is not a joke . . . A whole lot less than using a cell phone. Although all comercial quality receivers emit some extraneous (sp?) radiation, it is by FCC regulations very low level, much less that that of a cell phone. Don't worry about your GPSr. Cache Well. If it is, then just Cache Well.
  2. On the Map Page, use the Rocker Key to move the cursor arrow of the current location, Press the Enter Key and a Yes/No window will pop up. Highlight Yes and Press enter again. This brings up a waypoint window where you can edit each of the fields for name, symbol, Lat/Lon and all the other fields. Just edit these to put the waypoint you want in. Thats all that's necessary.
  3. Yeah, I know about that. I had a total of about 3000 hrs as primary operator in two different positions on two versions of Patrol AC, way back when. Decommissioned one squadron and transitioned both position and aircraft after a year and a half, so had to start all over. As I said before Operational needs superceed qualification. Cache Wel But this is going OT so I'll drop it now.
  4. Doesn't anybody remember how favorites/bookmarks work. Most browsers allow saving links for just this reason. I have created a Geocaching folder on my favorites/bookmark link toolbar that contains all the links that I consider necessary. This allows me to go directly to the pages of interest. I agree that the subject of this topic would be a nice improvement but I can do it through my bookmarks. Hope this helps. Cache Well
  5. I don't know how many cachers are aircrew or know aircrew well enough to ask for help on this, but I imagine any that found it would attempt to assit it in it's goal. I do have one question though, as an ex Naval avaition crewmember. Are these you wings or some you found/purchased. I know that if I had managed to get all the quals signed off and won my wings, they would not be placed in a situation where they could get lost. I spent over three years trying, but operational needs always came before getting the last sign-off and nobody would process a waiver. I never got my wings. Cache Well.
  6. Wouldn't happen to be using AOL would you? Check out This Topic in the Geocaching.com Web Site Forum. That forum is more appropriate for questions such as this. Hope this helps Cache Well
  7. If I understand the NMEA website, the NMEA format is also a proprietary format/bus, developed for marine applications. It is not an open source format, it is intended to connect electronic devices on large marine vessels for data exchange. I suggest you visit the NMEA website for details. Try Googling "NMEA" Cache Well
  8. My 76C has both USB and Serial bus inputs. There is still the choice for NMEA for the serial bus comms. The USB port uses Garmin format only. Garmin has always had a proprietary format but still supports NMEA. Cache Well
  9. Tina Mike There is an explanination in This Topic. Hope this helps Cache Well
  10. Another option is from the waypoint, or geocache screens press Menu, then Select DELETE, from you can select All, or by any symbol, which is great for deleting the unfoud or found, but leaving all other types of waypoints you may want to keep. Cache Well
  11. You should be able to through a serial cable, which is an option, not the USB cable that comes with the 60C). I don't know if TOPO 5.O supports the USB output for Garmin. I know that Street Atlas 2004 does not support Garmin USB. Cache Well
  12. You don't say Let's see now, is that datacaching geocaching data or geocaching datacaching geo Sax? Cache Well
  13. It only takes about 5 mouse clicks to get from GSAK to Mapsource to your GPSr. Given the speed difference, if you more than about about 30 waypoints, I wouldn't waste the money for a serial cable. And Soon GSAK/Bable will probably have USB Support for All users. Cache Well
  14. Based on information from another forum concerning Setting a Mapsource route, waypoints or Tracklog as a filter for GSAK. I think it would be best to make sure that only one type of source is exported to the file you are going use as a filter, Waypoints only, Route only or Track only. Hope this helps. Cache Well
  15. To Set Centerpoints, Use The Centerpoint Menu, To add Locations (which is one of the options under the CentrePoint menu GO to Tools/Options/Locations. As to getting waypoints from GSAK to your 60CS, If you are a registered user you can contact Clyde about a USB version of GPXBabel download that will allow direct transfer betwee GSAK and your GPSr by USB. Otherwise, for a while longer you'll have to export them to Mapsource and download from there. Cache Well
  16. I have Pocket PC 2003 first edition (complete with it's performance hogging bug). It reports itself to be Win CE 4.20 so you should be good to go. Thanks RK Cache Well
  17. I have an HP 2200 with Windows CE version 4.20. Is this new version compatible or do I need to update my OS? Cache Well
  18. Now To answer the original post concerning the steps for creating a line filter in GSAK from a mapsource Route. Create Route in Mapsource, Select Files/Export. Find the folder where you want to save the file in the export dialog box, Name The File and Click save Open GSAK Select Search/Filter Click on the Arc/Poly Tab Click on Load From File Find the folder where you saved the file Select the saved File Click on Open Make any other option selections you want for your filter Click on GO THat should do it. Hope this Helps Cache Well
  19. GSAK will also support routes created in MapSource. However, there is a problem with the version of GPSBabel that is shipped with GSAK version 4.1.3 and MapSource routes. To fix this, just download the latest beta version of GPSBabel from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=58972 then unzip to your install folder of GSAK Clyde, I think I am the one who misled people about GSAK not handling Mapsource routes. This question came up while I was having the troubles that you mentioned here. I thought that I had sucessfully created filters using Mapsource routes before but couldn't remember with which version. As a beta tester, I try to be very careful about this but sometimes my brain just does a core dump. Without a backup file it's hard to do a restore afterwards. Sorry about misleading people about this. And GSAK/Babel has been corrected. Cache Well.
  20. Are tonight's problems associated with the new servers or are they caused by the old firewall problem? I seem to get about 2 successes out of 5 tries for pages on the GC.com site. Haven't tried to do anything but check on TBs and Caches. Did get an email through to a cacher who moved one of my TBs. Guess I lucked out on that one. Cache Well

Read throught this Topic. It might help and will explain what has happened. Cache Well
  22. Wow this program is amazing. I found my solution. Now to buy a laptop. :D Man my wife is going to kill me. Why by a laptop? A pocket PC PDA with GPXSonar and GSAK on your Desktop will do just fine. Filter your PQs in GSAK for the next caching episode, transfer the Waypoints to your GPSr, and a GPX file to your PDA and you got it made. With the GPX File open in GPXSonar a double click on the waypoint in the listing will bring up the Cache Page in IE on your PDA. GPXSonar is very similar to GSAK. Cache Well. Edit: Cache Viking, I guess I should have read the latest GSAK topic postings before replying here. I guess you already know about this. Cache Well Again
  23. You can also use GSAK for this but it gives you a lot more than just this function. Cache Well
  24. Why bother opening WinZip, Just Drag the attachment into an open folder, then drag the Zip File from that folder into GSAK. No need to extract the file, GSAK does it for you. I keep a shortcut to a folder on my desktop just for this. Cache Well
