  1. I was at the Game Developers Conference this past week in San Jose (aside: several good caches near SJConv Center!). The President of Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) gave a keynote speech on Wed that covered directions for their products this year - mostly PSP and PS3. He announced they are bringing out a video camera and a GPS unit this fall for the PSP.. showed pictures too. He said the GPS would open up great applications like Geocaching. Thats right, he explictily mentioned Geocaching. On Friday I attended a session of PlayStation University for developers of PSP. They *again* explicitly mentioned geocaching as an application for the upcoming GPS unit. However, neither the PSU speaker nor anyone at the Sony booth knew anything about Geocaching applications for the PSP. They were not aware of any in development, etc. Seems strange SCEA's President would mention geocaching without having an application waiting for it! Another announcment on the PSP was the extended availability for WiFi - including downloading applications. Seems to me you could build a very nice Geocaching app with maps, cache description pages, etc. We may have to wait till fall (Sept/Oct) for the release of the GPS unit to know much more.
