  1. My initial reason for buying a Geko 201 was to navigate the remote regions of Northern Finland (went on snowmobile trip last year and lack of daylight in the forests was a bit of a setback - nothing to aid visual navigation and too cold to keep pulling out maps and compass!). However, I have now started to use it for geocaching and as an alternative to a bike computer. Also took it on holiday in July and used it to mark points of interest ("That looks like a nice restaurant. I must remember where it is so that I can have dinner there this evening" or "Which way was my hotel?")
  2. I too recently tried my Geko 201 on a flight from the UK to Italy. I thought, as it resembles a mobile phone in size and shape, that I would get a response from someone. Nobody said a thing! Readings mid-flight were somewhere around 11,000m altitude and 500km/h.
  3. Over the weekend I found the perfect case for my Garmin Geko. I didn't like the official Geko holsters as they do not seem to protect the screen from scratches etc. Anyway, the case I found is meant for a digital camera, but there is a small zip-up pocket on the front just big enough to store two spare AAA batteries. Details: Manufactured by Hama Model is Photo DF10 Description "Camera-Bag digital perfect" Price £9.99 The case carries a 10-year manufacturer's warranty. The stockist I bought it from is Campkins camera shop in Cambridge
