  1. Thanks for everyone's help, finally figured it out. Not really that hard once you do it. Backroad maps are great but too expensive. I used the open street map but wouldn't mind a topo map also. Thanks again
  2. When I put the Sd card in laptop and viewed files it shows all the GPX file and the image file that I downloaded but when the card is in the device only map files show??? Not sure exactly where or how to place in the Garmin file
  3. Hi Guys, I went to that site, Garmin openstreetmaps and thought I downloaded the map correctly but got an image. The maps on my device/sd card are GPX file. Sorry for not understanding this but as I said I have never done this
  4. Thank you Bike bill, site appears to be mostly for US and I'm looking for Canada, mostly Ontario. Ibycus has maps but than I have to download this bit torrent stuff which I really don't understand, new to this stuff as I have never undated or replaced my maps. Guess I'm looking for a preloaded DVD or micro sd card to make it easy. Are these available from people or can they not be copied?
  5. My gps maps are outdated and I am not sure how I buy or download new ones to the micro sd card. Any help would be much appreciated
  6. Do people sell copy's of maps in this forum or do I have to buy from Garmin. I have never purchased any except what came with GPS.
  7. I've had mine for several years and no lock ups yet. Wondering if anybody knows about map updates or new maps for these units
  8. Also thx to " Cornerhound "for the help with Garmin plugin. I have windows 7
  9. Could someone give me idea of how much this unit would be worth. I am thinking about upgrading and would like to pass this GPS on. Comes with original box,USB cable, trip and waypoint manager, belt clip case, bicycle mount, and Canada Topo maps v.2.0 and Metro Guide V 4. Good for someone who is just starting the Geocaching thing. Thanks
  10. Do you still have the unit and what maps (Canada? ) are included. USB, power cords? I have a 60Csx used less than 1 hour in original box. I also will include the protective carrying case and a TOPO US 100K data card (paid $89) for upper East Coast (never used). I have almost $400 invested and will sell all for $220 firm and will ship. LK
  11. When I was considering purchasing this unit I read all the info I could and of course the model info says high sensitive receiver so I didn't know any difference. What kind of units do you all use?
  12. Thanks All, sounds like I am on the right track. I just was not sure how close GPS was going to get me. What about the bearing/course pointer? is it the same as the target with the GPS. Thanks again.
  13. Hi All, I am also new to this, seems like its catching like wild fire. I purchased a used Garmin Etrex Vista C which I know is a discontinued model but it was a good price and came with a few maps and accessories. I have figured out the device pretty good and have looked for about 5 caches so far and only found 2. I am looking usually in conservation areas( heavily wooded). When I am searching, I am following the gps path and it is counting down metres to the target, how close should it get me and when it shows the cache is off the path I sometimes lose the signal once I get into heavy woods. I would just like to know if I am doing something wrong ? Sorry about the long e-mail, one more thing, should I buy "Geocaching for Dummies" or am I on the right track. Thanks
