  1. I've got a Garmin Legend that I've had for about 2 years. I haven't used it rough, been pretty nice to it, but it's starting to fall apart. The flap that covers the dataport ripped partway, and this summer the rubber strip started coming loose. It's loose across the top, and around the left side. I've tried super gluing and using shoe goo to no avail. Has anyone else had this problem - and do you have any suggestions to fix it? Also, the joystick is getting finicky now. From time to time, it will only work in certain directions (i.e. only left and down) or it won't recognize when you push in to "select" and will behave that way for 5 min, then work fine. It's also started getting the graphic glitch, where lines will be missing, or it'll have weird static lines across the whole display. Usually, I just give it squeeze on the sides to make that stop. I really like the unit, but it seems like 2 years is a short amount of time for it to start acting up this way.
  2. Why, it's the hair, of course! wavydave
  3. I can't believe no-one's posted: What do you do with a dog with no legs? Take him out for a drag!
  4. I have this running theory: People who litter with beer bottles/cans don't drink premium beer. I started testing this theory a couple of summers back when we camped up near Swan Valley (Idaho.) There were TONS of domestic beer cans and bottles on the ground up and down the road by our campsite, but I never did see any import bottles. It seems like if the person can afford to pay ~$6 a 6-pack or more, they have the good sense to either recycle or throw their trash in the proper. Today, while on the way home from a cache, Shel and I decided to pick up some trash and cans. In the 5 miles of road that we picked, I found One Becks bottle - it's an import and it runs about $6-$7 6-pack. But that's one bottle for 2.5 summers of testing.
  5. thanks for the info - I'll check into it more (anc try the squeeze)
  6. I've got a Legend that's about a year and a half old. Recently, it's had some weird graphical glitches - horizontal or vertical lines across the display screen. Most of the time, they clear up within a minute or two. I've had a couple of occasions though where the whole display washed out with smears of black - kind of like the Matrix effect with code. When it did that, it was constantly in motion - it did eventually clear up, but it was very weird. The batteries are fairly new (less than 3 hrs. of use - they show over 3/4 full on the display) Anyone had something similar - or ideas. My first guess is a bios update, and possibly different batteries.
