Our office first started off using Timble Scouts that were curved and about the size of a small brick. They only displayed lat and long, no map, and just told you where you were. The menu was awful and they took four AA batteries that lasted about four hours. I was the first to talk my boss into a new Garmin blue Legand on a field trip in 2000. What an improvement.
We also had a Plugger (PLGR ?) it was always out to be encrypted and took forever to warm up.
