  1. 50 coins. I'm not sure if the same issue regarding the mint wanting a minimum of each finish still exists; it would be a question that would need to be asked if there was enough interest to make a remint happen. I'm mostly interested in nickel, black nickel, copper, and gold, and maybe an antique finish. If ten people were interested in the same, or a lesser number for the complete 14 platings of the original minting, then there'd be enough interest to take it to the next step and have Mike approach the mint to see about pricing and check that the mould is still on file.
  2. It's been a while since this thread has had a post. I saw pictures of this coin yesterday, and doing a search to see where it came from turned up this thread. I contacted Atwell Family, and he said that if the mint still had the dies and there was enough interest to get 50 coins made, a second minting on these enamel sample coins could be done. I'm not sure how much the cost would have changed, but I thought I'd post and see if anyone else was interested in getting them that missed them the first time around.
  3. It's been quite a while since I posted in here, and it's probably a long shot. But I'd love to locate one of the Groundspeak Project coins, either the round or square version. This was one of the earliest Canadian geocoins, non-trackable and made around 2002. I'd also be interested in a Lemon Fresh Dog LE. To trade I have various Canadian coins from the 2008 and earlier, and well as some of Tsun Rise Bey's coins, Geo-Tiki series 2, several years of Compass Rose, etc.. Thanks.
  4. I'm guessing there will be some sort of recognizable naming convention used for the events, similar to the WWFM multi-events? That should make them easy to spot once they start getting listed in September. As for the design question, if a clock wasn't being used on the front I'd suggest some manner of 12 pointed analog clock face designed in the style of a compass rose (though you could argue that compass roses have already been overdone on geocoins).
  5. I figured a discussion about a 12-12-12 group coin would be going by now; I see it's actually been going for quite a while. Add Bridgewater, Nova Scotia to the list (hope you don't mind E&C+3 if I add an event an hour away from your's). I didn't have an 11-11-11 event last year, partly due to other stuff happening or potentially happening the same day as I recall, but held XX-XX-XX events the previous 3 years. Being the "last one" of this type, it's time to finally get in on the group coin project.
  6. Wow, for once I remembered to check for a coin thread before the order period had closed. Might try to get in on the project this time around, since I'm hoping to have some sort of 10/10/10 event.
  7. We had over 50 people at our event in Bridgewater (which was more than I was expecting). The weather was great and people had a good time.
  8. Thanks t4e. The changes have been made; hopefully everything is in compliance now. Just have to make my sign for the group picture. If anyone wants to purchase one of the event trackables for release, they're $3 and you can buy them here (see the details at the top of the page about how they'll be released). It's not a geocoin, but it is trackable.
  9. You know this event doesn't qualify for the official 10 Year!-icon? Actually, I didn't even know there was a 10 Year Icon. I've been tied up with finishing a degree and haven't had time to follow all the talk. Someone else just pointed out to me that Flash Mobs weren't eligible so I've changed the event to comply. Thanks for the info!
  10. Another 10 Years event to add to the list. Event Cache10 Years! Bridgewater Flash Mob & Trackables Release http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCX00R I didn't get this off the ground in time to get in on the coin, but I have another type of trackable in the works for the event (pending Groundspeak approval).
  11. Happy Thanksgiving to everyone in the U.S.A.! For today and tomorrow (American Thanksgiving and Black Friday) receive a 10% discount off the individual G-Files coin price when you put "Geocoin Forum Special" in the comment field of your order. The discount will be applied when you are invoiced. You must include the phrase to receive the discount, but you don't need to live in the U.S.. Have a great day!
  12. Thanks Eartha. I half forgot about this myself until recently, and was thinking I should send PIF an e-mail, since I hadn't seen my coins yet. As long as they weren't lost in the mail, I'm okay with waiting. Considering his past generosity and the fact that the money sent is for charity, it's nice to see everyone is being patient.
  13. This fall I decided to produce some new finishes for the popular G-Files coin. Styled in an X-Files theme, this coin shows the Geocaching "G" on the front, with a blow-up of the G's center in the background. The back tells what every geocacher knows: "The Tupperware Is Out There" The copper version is available on my website. The G center on the front and text on the back are done in glow enamel. They're $10.49 and include a matching freebie of a button, magnet, or postcard. There are also options to buy 5 or 10 at a discount. You can find it here. Shipping anywhere in the U.S. is $2.95 for 1-2 coins, $5.25 for 3-5 coins, and for larger orders please ask for a quote on air and ground shipping rates. Thanks!
  14. You're all very welcome. I'm glad all 3 coins arrived safely since with only 5 made in that finish, I didn't have replacements to send. Happy coining!
  15. All 3 coins have now been shipped, so the winners should see them in 1.5-3 weeks (depending on how slow the mail is running these days). Thanks to all for playing and for nominating someone!
  16. Post #31! Congrats to Lorca.nl, nominated by fairyhoney! And, since there were 2 coins left to give at the start of cointest #2, both the nominator and nominatee each get a coin. Fairyhoney, please send me your address and the addy for Lorca.nl. Thanks to everyone for their nominations and for playing! Happy Halloween!
  17. Nominations have ended! I will now push the magic button on the random number generator to find out that the winner is....
  18. Nearing midnight Atlantic time... 3 minutes left for nominations.
  19. Okay, cointest part 2. It's Halloween, and what's part of Halloween? Giving treats to others. So, this part of the cointest involves nominating another cacher to receive one of these coins. The Rules: 1) You can nominate up to 5 people. 2) You can only nominate 1 person per post, so if you want to nominate 5 people, you have to make 5 posts. 3) The winner will be the person in the post number chosen by a random number generator (hence the reason why each post can have 1 nomination). 4) You must know the address for the person you're nominating so you can tell me where to send the coin. 5) Cointest ends at midnight Atlantic time (just over 4 hours away). Have fun!
  20. The Netherlands is bordered by only 2 countries: Belgium borders in the south and Germany in the east.
  21. That's correct! Sorry for the delay, just had to double check that it was called the 2006 and not 2005 coin (which is what I thought it was at first). Send me your address through my GC profile so I can send out your coin. Another cointest coming later, after I get home from town.
  22. Well, when I made my latest geocoin with a Halloween theme, I set one version aside. The XXLE Antique Copper "Bare Metal" version wasn't sold, and only 5 coins were made in this finish. I'm keeping one, and the rest are being given away. One's already been given as a prize in a contest I did on a local geocaching forum. Here's the first chance for someone from the wider geocaching community to get one. One guess per cacher every 5 minutes. Here's the question: On November 27, 2005 I sat at my computer, anxiously waiting for the start time, and once it hit quickly sent an e-mail, thus purchasing my first geocoin from an internet sale. What coin was it? Edit to say: Congrats to Ford Freak for guessing the right answer! See post #16 for cointest #2.
