...I've had the dropsies with my Garmin Summit a couple of times (one time it decided to release itself from the bike mount). The unit still displays and functions, but I'm starting to question the accuracy. What are some ideas for checking gps accuracy? Thanks, John

My boys (9 and 11) enjoy caching. At first, we would be sure to track down the caches with items to trade - good incentive for hiking! But, now they enjoy doing virtual caches (which are great during vacations). The hunt is now probably more exciting than actually trading items!

Thanks! Again, no problem with any of the virtual caches we've done so far - but curious as to good cache-log form. I read other threads about posting found it vs. writing a note when owner confirmation is required. Just a newbie wanting to get off to a good cache start!

Most virtual caches seem to require a message sent to the cache owner. My understanding is that a cacher is to log a note until receiving confirmation from the owner that the cache 'answer' is correct. What is the proper cache etiquette in terms of how long to wait for an answer (no problems yet - just wondering!)? Thanks!

What are the most common formats used for notes needed when searching a cache? Printed geocache page(s) (with log, hints, map)? Hand-written essentials in log? Downloaded info to a PDA? Or, something else? Thanks, John
