  1. We have one clever cache near our house that is in the middle of a large street....on the divider island. You press the Walk button....and walk out there. After you find the geocache, you cannot reach the button (because you are way out in the middle of the street). I love to send new cachers out there.
  2. It's happened again...... I can't remember what point I was attempting to make. Please feel free to come to any conclusion you want. For some reason.... I keep thinking of different flavors of icecream.
  3. So are you saying the road grader just removed the film canisters and left the PVC pipes? lol..... I'm NOT saying.
  4. Well.... I'd like to explain...........or describe..... You can quickly tell if the cache is missing. Hundreds of them were carefully placed in PVC pipes hammered into the dirt. The film cans hang on the top of the pipe, with the lids showing. A rock was on top of them. .....just saying.......... if someone was dropping caches where there were caches missing............. perhaps they found the pipe with nothing in it.
  5. I normally skip a dozen or so caches that are quite close to my home. I do this because all the relatives want to go Geocaching when they visit. Perhaps I should go find them ahead of time.....just to ensure we have fun actually finding them. Do you save easy or clever caches for your visitors?
  6. Why did you post this without elucidating some sort of point? Perhaps we are supposed to insert our own opines here....lol. Just look at those cachers ! Riding around in the bed of a pick up truck on a state highway. A ticket is certainly in order. The guidelines certainly must state somewhere....that geocaching must be done in a Legal way.

If they have more finds than me ..... send me a Private Message or an e-mail telling me who and when. I'll go call them cheaters! Nothing irks me more than High Count cachers cheating. I pride myself in Actually signing Every logsheet. Some cachers think this is some sort of competition. If it was....we would win a prize.
  8. Nope. If you only need 30 geocaches....just write them down and input them by hand.
  9. I'm always impressed with any group that can have a successful 24+ hours of caching. Many, many things can, and do, go wrong with that type of plan. These are some typical issues..... Cars break, geocachers get sick, gps breaks, and even weather can stop a great run. I still say congratulations to all the groups that make the effort to "try" that Alien run. PS - It looks like there is a tally sheet on E.T. 001 - http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...5a-27c3ce5e9905 This power run may not be accepted by some geocachers.....but it looks like over a thousand geocachers have made the journey out there.....and it looks like the majority of them will have great memories of their journeys.... (and perhaps psychological scars)
  10. I've had many. For my latest favorite..... Garmin 62S with the city maps. It stores 2000 geocaches. It provides paperless geocaching. It uses AA batteries.
  11. Well..... this thread was to present a new record.....for those who follow these type of things. Since it seems to have done that.... and more.... we might as well CLOSE it out. Thanks.
  12. don't give up yet. I would hit find and then waypoint....perhaps you can see it there.....or not. I have that same problem...lol..... but then I'm only spending a minute on each one.
  13. Oh... I see.... yep. If you just placed a new cache within Point One mile of the old one, you will have to wait for the first one to get archived (which you can do)....before the new one gets approved
  14. You should log it again.... and select ARCHIVE the cache. In this website we never actually delete the caches. The record of finds and Dnf's will remain on the other cachers data and history (we want it that way).
  15. Actually.... my goals are not numbers related. My current goal is to put together an off-road trip out in the 29 palms desert to grab some geocaches. Another goal is to build a rocket to launch at a geocaching event in Lucerne valley.
  16. The 1157 caches in 24 hours, I assume? Yippee, we're back on topic!! A new World Record? I love this subject! So.... in order to attain that many caches in 24 hours.... that would be one cache in less than a minute. I see many groups doing 1021 in 12 hours....so it must be easy peasy.
  17. Funny you should ask...... We found 1157 geocaches in 24 hours on the Alien Highway in Nevada.
  18. My goal is to set a new World Record for the most geocache finds in 24 hours.... ....but I already did that..... .... but you already knew that !
  19. Most importantly.... all our cell phones didn't have service out on the trail. Be safe, and bring lots of water.
  20. I have the same issue....except it is the exact opposite. I have been attempting to filter out all the tough hides, the hiking hides, and the bush hides. I only want to see those lampost hides, and those hides where I don't have to trudge thru shrubbery, climb rock piles, and be exposed to Poison Oak, rattle snakes, and ticks. I filter my PQ's to only show those terrain 2.0's and below. Oh.... I guess I just dragged my own thread off subject..... dang.
  21. Mine worked all day yesterday with no issues on 2.7
  22. OK.... I'll give you another method..... by the way....I love the comments by those who are great with computers who say "it's easy". I actually logged into the chatroom that is listed on this geocaching site.... clayjar chat. There are usually a couple of folks in there that can help with questions. .... just a suggestion. They helped me figure out how to work a couple of different gps units I have.
  23. Whoops. It looks like the grader just eliminated caches #600 thru #675. A geocacher was replacing them until the grader guy stopped him. So.... #600 thru #606 have been replaced. I have a feeling the grader will be doing extensive damage to the run if he continues North on that side of the highway. Time will tell.....
  24. OK, we've certainly lost sight of the original topic. Let's shut down this thread and I'll make some new ones.
