  1. I was sitting on the famous Grassy Knoll Virtual Cache (GC3710) and it hit me, why not make a new cache type, one for Historical Caches. Groundspeak stated Virtuals were taken off the field due Waymarking and to remove caches without a container. At the Grassy Knoll there were at least 4 other waymarks within feet of each other...all going against the common sense of the .1 mile rule. I know the adventures are not all about numbers, but about quality for most, so how about making a cache type for all those places containers cannot go. Groundspeak would have the option to be creative and create a cool icon, like the Liberty Bell, Statue of Liberty, etc. As long as something can be verified of historical significance it would be legit and the numbers will count towards your Cache totals at the same time. An Earthcache, but for remembering history? Your thoughts? Please do not lock this down, let us see what others really think? Keep on Cachin!
  2. I have been caching over a year and I have to admit that Earth and Virtual Caches are my favorite. I have tried Way Marking but it does not seem to be as involved as the Virtual Caches I have found. Look at these for example: Barney Smith's Toilet Seat Museum by Cybercat & Eddie (GCB6A8): * Featured in FTF Geocacher Magazine as well as seen on 'The View' and Montel Williams. Works of Dionicio Rodriguez by Cybercat & Eddie (GCC0E0): * This took me around the NE side of San Antonio looking at amazing art work. Boot Scootin' Cache by Cybercat & Eddie (GCDF8B): * Texas' first dancehall Lady of the Rivers by Island-Dave (GC356F): * Beautiful statue of Mary along the mississippi river protecting the city of Port Des Sioux and the boats passing through the river. These are just a few examples of the great virtual caches I have found and truly believe a return to virtuals could work if we made criteria like Earthcaches to preclude the Jack in the Box and local hardware store like I found on way marking this weekend. Is it ever going to be possible to see a return?
  3. I obtained it back in April. I have 28 finds in 6 states and created 4 Earthcaches in 3 states (IL, MO, TX).
  4. Hey there. Looking at the new Lowrance Endura Sierra and was wondering if anyone has used it or the Safari model. 1. Does the paperless GC logs upload to GC.com well? 2. How is the reception? I used to have a Lowrance H2O and it was not the best at keeping satelite reception. Thank you. If you have used the model in question, please feel free to email me. Thank you!
  5. How do I offer a TB up for adoption? I have looked everywhere and cannot get it figured out.
  6. I am heading back to San Antonio 22 April - 10 June 2010 for a TDY and was looking to see if there were any group cache runs or anybody looking for help for any caching adventures. I have lived in San Antonio for 9 of the past 15 years and know the area...so I will not hinder you in your efforts. Thank you all in advance.
  7. I started Geocaching in May 2009 and the most interesting caches I have found to date have mostly been Virtual Caches. I have read the posts regarding the decision to stop Virtual Caches in favor of Waymarking. I have looked at Waymarking and it appears to me that the intention is not being met with Waymarking. -If a Jack N the Box restaurant can be a Waymarking site, there has to be an issue. - If there is a one mile area saturated with Waymarking, all the rules are different, why have them? I guess the point I am trying to make is that I would LOVE to see Virtual Caches brought back, or make Waymarkings count in our cache totals. Your thoughts fellow cachers?
  8. Does anyone know where I can find the Bison tubes that have the glass tube inside of them? I have looked high and low and cannot find them anywhere.
