  1. I would like to sort different categories by their location. Is there a way to sort the waymarkers by location? I did attempt to sort alphabetically, assuming it meant the name of the waymark. I don't know what it meant but it wasn't the name or location.
  2. mtn-man & IV_Warrior: Thanks for the information. When I queried gc.com, all I got was a "thanks for your feedback. . ." I guess I was so frustrated about not being able to post some new caches in a geocache-lacking area, that I didn't give Waymarking a chance.
  3. I believe preventing future virtual caches is a mistake. Virtual caches are a way of showing people locations, in a fun way, in an area that is enjoyed outside of a cacher's local area. I had planned to sprinkle virtual caches in an area that has very few geocaches. I tried to find out why virtual caches are being eliminated, but I only received an error message - that the page is no longer available to view. I see that a Waymarking page has been started. However, geocaching, including virtual caches, is like solving a big puzzle. As with any puzzle; sometimes we solve it and sometimes we don't. That's the challenge. The Waymarking page seems to require more from its participants, but the search itself is minimal. Sometimes the virtual cache is such a beautiful place because there are no signs. I hope the powers that be reconsider their decision about no longer allowing virtual caches from being submitted on the Geocaching site. Thank you.
  4. I don't know if other states have the same information available, but I discovered that California Dept. of Transportation (CalTrans) has a list of all of their rest areas. Included in their list is the nearest town and lat. and long. information. I just figure this is another way to locate geocaches along a planned route. Firefly61
  5. I've been wondering the same thing. Except, I'm curious about the I-5 and/or I-80 corridors in Northern California. I travel both of these freeways quite a bit throughout the year and am hoping there is an easy way to map the caches. On a similar note, is there an easy way to check for geocaches at freeway rest areas? It would be great if I had more of a purpose for streaching my legs. Thanks!
