  1. Funny, I was getting ready to start a similar thread. Yesterday my brother and I hid a cache at noon, submitted it at 13:45, it was approved at 15:22, and someone found it at 16:15.
  2. This site has quite a bit of info, including several pictures. http://www.poison-ivy.org
  3. Took Out The Trash? Meaning they removed worthless crap from the cache.
  4. If you told the land manager exactly what you were doing and obtained proper permission, then you are fine. I would like to see some pix, sounds like a very cool idea.
  5. As you log TB's in and out of caches, the system calculates the mileage the bug has travelled by using the coordinates of the caches. Besides completing its goal, a travel bug's success is measured by the miles its travelled. The Travel Bug Graveyard is located at N 00° 01.000 W 000° 01.000. Logging a bug in and out of this cache is going to add a lot of imaginary miles to the bug.
  6. Make sure you do 1/1 traditional caches until you get the hang of it. Bringing a friend along to help look will make it easier also. Dont worry, you will get better.
  7. Wont do any good, they will still ask.
  8. I also receive these spoof emails all the time, I believe its called phishing. I get emails claiming to come from paypal and ebay all the time. They are incredibly legit looking and I would hate to know the number of people that are falling for these. I always forward them to either spoof@paypal.com or spoof@ebay.com so they know about it. You will also get a response back telling you whether it was a legit email or not.
  9. I have no problem with that at all as long as he doesnt keep it too long, like several months.
  10. I dont have one but I do know that they dont have a PC interface which makes it a bad choice for the serious geocacher.
  11. We did receive an email from Ed, but we have not responded yet. We will respond to him soon. Elias Thank you for your prompt reply.
  12. Would you please open a discussion with Ed Hall at Buxley's Waypoint so he can get his site up and running again without decreasing the performance of gc.com?
  13. Are there really micros out there attached to dumpsters? Could you post some, I would like to read the logs.
  14. On the cache page instead of a stat for total logged visits, I think it would be cool to have a stat for total logged finds and one for total notes posted or something like that. I am more interested in the total number of cachers that have found a cache and dont really care about the number of notes. It would be nice to have them broken out.
  15. Cool, now maybe us non-paying members will have a shot at a FTF.
  16. Uh oh, not that topic again. Here is a really long and heated thread regarding that subject. I believe most people think they're ok.
  17. You should report it to the local approver. I read through the logs and noticed a few of the finders complained about it being so close to the tracks.
  18. In the upper righthand corner you should see the text "Enter the tracking number or TB number below" Enter the number on the coin in that box. I know, its confusing. They need to change the page to mention geocoins also.
  19. Assuming its a USA or Moun10bike coin, log it here.
  20. Very cool idea, I bet its tough to stuff him in an ammo can.
  21. Prime Suspect, very cool google trick, thanks for sharing.
  22. Does logging multiple finds on the same cache increase your find count?
  23. I just looked at your profile and noticed all you have found are locationless caches and realized that is probably the type of caches your are talking about. I personally think it would be considered bad ettiquette to log an archived locationless but people continue to do it. I dont think the geocaching police will show up at your door if you log one.
  24. Almost always, caches are archived because they no longer exist. Therefore, it would be pointless to try and hunt them. I suppose if you did actually find one you could log it a find but you should then remove it because most people ignore archived caches and its basically geotrash. The logs without years are ones that were written in the current year. Once 2005 comes, the year will be displayed.
