  1. Hi and welcome. The 'regulars' are not really supposed to post here. I am kind of a regular tho and this is one thread that I always check out. I think quite a few others read it often too. thanks for the welcome, and thanks for the clarification!!
  2. Um... If you're reading the threads that frequently, I fail to see what the big deal is about the extra click to go into the forum. Solution: Use a tabbed browser and keep the Geocaching Topics forum in its own tab. Just click on refresh every now and then to see what has changed. Firefox is a brilliant browser. I use it at home and at work.
  3. Well, I see that not too many regulars reply here. Don't know if you read them or not. My name's Tom (obviously). I was introduced to geocaching just a couple of weeks ago by a friend who knew I had a GPSr. I've been excited about it ever since. I've mostly just been lurking and learning these last couple of days so as not to upset any of the regulars. I know on some boards newbies are looked down upon, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. Anyways, it'll be great getting to know some of you along the way, and happy caching to all!!
  4. How about we take this a step further and did a CITO on ticks?? I can't stand those things. Had one on myself and one on my dog this weekend. I guess I did rid the world of two of those evil things, then.
  5. That may be right. I don't know what the coverage is on lostoutdoors.com. I know they assume West and North for longitude and latitude. I have not tried it for areas outside the US. There is a thread someplace (I think on the geocaching.com forum) about new maps that GC.com was putting in. Those maps would only be for areas outside the US. I have not followed that thread, but in the early portions that I did read there was some concern about the age of the maps. I just did a quick look through that forum and could not find the thread. I know that the mapquest maps don't always show on caches outside the US and Canada, but when they do they appear to be fairly accurate. You might also check in the Nordic Countries forum to see what might be useful in that part of the world. I don't think there is any one provider of maps that has complete coverage and so there will be gaps. the web-site says it's only for the US because it's USGS data
  6. Don't get frustrated. My wife and I went on our first hunt on Saturday. We found the location we just couldn't find the cache. I'm sure it was the location because all of the descriptions were the same. Ended up searching around a creek-bed in Northeast Indiana for an hour. Oh well, it was fun, and I'm stubborn so I can't wait to get back out!!
