Es gibt ein GSAK-Makro, welches das Cachelisting übersetzt TranslateCaches Die Übersetzung ersetzt dann wahlweise das Listing oder wird als UserNote angehangen.

I selected "GC Live Download", "Download near", moved the arrow to the location and started the download. The solved mystery was among the caches loaded. Also worked when entering the GC-Code.

What I tried was downloading a solved mystery via Bluetooth that is not already loaded in the GPS. The cache is listed at its corrected coordinates. As I don’t have the O700 anymore, I tried this again with my 66s which I suppose runs the in this case identical software. Again, a not-yet-loaded-mystery is listed at the corrected coordinates. I haven’t tried to download a previously loaded solved cache via Bluetooth as I use GSAK for loading the Caches in my area.

This one Ok, well open one of your archived tracks from the saved tracks in the menu, go sideways to view the elevation profile for the track, then exit back out with the quit button twice, and see if the unit turns off. Apparently it doesn’t happen for everyone, and it won’t happen if you entered the menu from any screen other than the map screen. happens with my unit, too. Pushing the quit-button is OK until the main menu is shown, one more "quit" and the unit turns off.

It only crashed twice (not the same day) when caching. I can‘t exactly remember what I did before it crashed, but I know it had nothing to do with the map. I‘m not familiar with all the bugs that occurred, is there an issue with the map?

When you select the "Automotive" Dashboard, it is smaller than the other dashboards. The "Compass" Dashboard looks completely different than the other dashboards. So I guess they could implement the 2-data-field, if they wanted. There's no small triangle button on the gpsmap's schreen, that's a touchscreen-only feature.

I got my 66s an January 3rd, with firmware 2.3 installed. I was a bit confused as Garmin Express said that 2.1 is the most current firmware - I guess 2.3 is the next firmware to come, not yet published but installed on new units. Firmware 2.3 still only allows one data field or four data fields on the map page, no option for two fields. I guess it may never come.

Mit Bluetooth funktioniert der Datenaustausch m.W. nicht beim 64s. Es ging mal mit dem iPhone und der BaseCamp mobile App - die gibt es aber nicht mehr. Jetzt brauchst du ein mit Connect IQ kompatibles GPS-Gerät, das heißt Oregon 7x0 oder 66s/st. Nur mit denen funktioniert auch „Geocaching-Live“, das Herunterladen von Caches über WLAN.

Der Datentransfer vom Smartphone zum GPS klappt mit einem USB-OTG-Kabel - vorausgesetzt, dein Smartphone kann das. Ob es das kann, kannst du mit der App "OTG-Troubleshooter" überprüfen. Eine Anleitung findest du hier Meine Erfahrungen mit dem 66s beschränken sich bisher auf zwei Cacherunden, sind aber durchweg positiv. Es arbeitet geüfhlt schneller als das Oregon 700, das Display ist super und es lässt sich auch mit Handschuhen gut bedienen. Ich hatte bisher zwei Abstürze, aber ein Neustart behob das Problem jeweils. Dafür, dass das Gerät noch ziemlich neu ist, ist das nicht schlecht - zumindest für Garmin-Verhältnisse Da kommt die Stabilität erst nach und nach.

Eine gute Wahl - lange auf dem Markt und ausgereift. Zudem ist mit dem gpsmap66 der Nachfolger vor wenigen Monaten erschienen, da kriegst du das 64s evtl. für schmales Geld. Es muss m.E. auch nicht zwingend ein Neugerät sein - die Dinger halten ewig. Ich habe meine Geräte - bis auf das aktuelle 66s - immer gebraucht ersteigert. Mir persönlich gefällt die Tastenbedienung besser als Touchscreen, deswegen habe ich mein Oregon 700 verscherbelt und mir ein 66s zugelegt - gleich großes Display, aber eben Tastenbedienung. Das 66s ist allerdings gerade erst erschienen und kostet dementsprechend auch deutlich mehr.

Leider nicht. Warum weiß ich auch nicht. Hängt möglicherweise damit zusammen, dass du dank.ggz-Format theoretisch alle Caches dieser Welt auf das Gerät laden kannst und eine Liste mit mehr als 2Millionen Caches das Gerät überfordert. ich habe mir bei den Caches in den USA damit geholfen, dass ich einen Wegpunkt in der Nähe der Caches angelegt habe. Wenn ich mir den auf der Karte anzeigen lasse, sehe ich auch die Caches, ohne, dass ich die Karte dahin scrollen muss. Mit meinem Montana ist das einfacher, da passen aber eben „nur“ 12.000 Caches drauf.

Das ist in der Tat ein Problem - unterschiedliche Handys haben unterschiedlich guten GPS-Empfang. Mein Honor ist der Horror, während das IPhone meines Kumpels ganz passable Ergebnisse liefert. Wobei auch ein "beliebter" Fehler ist, bei seinem Smartphone neben dem reinen GPS-Empfang auch noch die Ortung durch mobile Netzwerke zuzulassen, das sorgt mitunter auch für Abweichungen. Solche großen Schwankungen hast du bei zwei GPS-Geräten nicht. Smarthphones sind nunmal Minicomputer mit jeder Menge Funktionen, die nebenbei auch einen GPS-Chipsatz haben - je nach Aufbau ist dann der GPS-Empfang bei dem einen Modell besser und bei dem anderen schlechter. Du kannst Glück haben mit deinem Smartphone, dann kannst du damit gut cachen, oder eben Pech... Ein GPS-Gerät ist nicht viel mehr als ein GPS-Chipsatz mit Gehäuse und ist (sollte) für bestmöglichen Empfang gebaut sein, sodass hier die Unterschiede zwischen zwei Geräten recht klein sind. Ich habe ein Montana 600 und ein Oregon 700, die liegen wenn überhaupt max. 3-4 Meter auseinander.

My opinion is your opinion when it comes to "normal" caches. But in my opinion, real-time caches are different, so they have to be treated differently. The indoor-team is allowed to log as well, as they are teamwork-caches and can only be found with two (or three) teams working together. That's what the CO intended, and the reviewers i.e. Groundspeak i.e. "The Maker of Rules" accept it. Someone saying "Henne1312 cannot claim a find, he was in the indoor-team and never visited GZ" would get the answer "He never did, but he can log a find as he was part of the team". I didn't sign the logbook myself, so strictly according to the rules, I could not claim a find. But in this case, GS is bending and stretching their own rules, so that's OK for me Plus I think, the indoor-team DESERVES a find for the work they have done, "their eyes glued to the screen" is a bit derogative. I made clear my standpoint, you made clear your standpoint. But we've come way too far from the topic "if you don't have a pen" and might be annoying others. For sure, at least ONE member of the outdoor-team(s) carries a pen, so they don't have to use body-fluids

No, it’s available every day. Only one team a day, start at 5 pm, if you haven’t finished by midnight, you gotta try again. And even when it’s available every day - I wouldn’t drive 400 km to sign the logbook when I was part of the indoor team when the cache was found. Like Mausebiber said - it’s the intention of the CO, that the indoor team claims a find even when it was not on GZ. And yes, There’s quite a big difference between capturing a pic from a webcam and a real-time geocache. One takes 1 min and one click, the other 7 hours and a lot of research. And that’s not the only difference. Too bad I only have german caches as examples. So, what you‘re saying is that everything but going for traditional caches is not geocaching? No searching for coordinates for multi caches, no using computers for mysteries? No earthcaches as there is no container? Same with virtuals and events? Well, I don’t agree with that point of view, but I don’t have to - I wouldn’t dare telling other people how to play their game. So, does it affect you in any way, when people are playing the game in a different way than you do? Or why do you say you’re glad that this type of cache is not in North America? I would be glad if something that people love doing is in my area, even if I don’t like doing it. I don’t do T5, I would never go for a Biltema cache as I think it’s stupid, and most of the D5-caches in my area went on my ignore-list as I don’t have the slightest clue. But I know there’s people out there loving these caches, so they have a right to be there.

They can’t switch places. Cache is only available until midnight, indoor team wouldn’t make it in time after the outdoor team found it. Plus, indoor team is 8 people, that is two cars with 120 km each - in times of global warming, you just don’t do that And what would you say, if the indoor team was 200 km away? There’s one real-time cache in Frankfurt that we would like to do as well, and the indoor team in my house would be 200 km away. I would claim both caches as a find, and I wouldn’t feel guilty about that.

What about „Live“Geocaches like ,https://coord.info/GC5EG96? (It’s German, sorry for that ) There you have an inside team and an outside team, the inside team solving puzzles and directing the outside team by phone. Inside team is nothing without the outside team vice versa. Inside team can be everywhere, in our case something like 60 km away from the outside team and the cache. No way for the inside team to also go to the final. Outside team is writing the nicks of the inside team into the log as well, as the inside team was essential for finding the cache. Would that be an exception you could think of where someone who hasn’t been to GZ could claim the find?

The 64 and the Oregon 6xx and 7xx don‘t show „far-away-caches“ on the list anymore like the 62 and the Oregon 2/3/4/5xx did, but you can see them on the map. One option is to scroll the map to the area, another one is to create a waypoint in this area („mark waypoint“, then edit the coordinates and save), then go to „waypoint manager“, choose that waypoint and „view map“. You will then see all the caches you loaded. Scrolling is OK when the area is not too far away. I‘m planning a trip to the US this summer, 7500 km away. While creating waypoints in Denver, Rapid City etc., I don‘t have to scroll across the Atlantic Ocean to see the caches I loaded.

The 64 and the Oregon 6xx and 7xx don‘t list the „far away caches“ more than 150 km or so away. But you can see them on the map. Just choose one of the waypoints related to one of the new caches and let and let it show on the map. Then you can see the caches on the map and be sure they are on the unit.

Ein Montana habe ich auch, quasi als Zweitgerät. Es ist ein altes 600er, das habe ich günstig bei eBay erstanden. Hauptsächlich benutze ich es, wenn ich mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs bin, da ist mir das Display des Oregon zu klein. Auf kürzeren Ausflügen zu Fuß habe ich das Montana auch mal dabei, für längere Touren ist es mir aber zu schwer und unhandlich. Das Oregon verschwindet mal eben in der Hosentasche oder baumelt um den Hals, das ist beim Montana nicht so einfach. Wen die Größe nicht abschreckt, der hat mit dem Montana ein tolles Gerät!

Ja, darüber hatte ich auch gelesen und mir daher den Kauf gut überlegt. Aber beim Kauf von gebrauchten Garmins kannst du eigentlich nix falsch machen - die sind so preisstabil, die kannst du ausgiebig testen und bei Nichtgefallen für den gleichen Preis wieder bei eBay verkaufen. Ich hatte weder beim 600 noch beim 700 die großen Probleme, von denen mitunter berichtet wird. Ja, das 700 stürzt gelegentlich (eher selten) mal ab, das kommt aber in den besten Familien vor. Es lässt sich dann aber ohne Probleme wieder einschalten, und weiter gehts. Ansonsten kann ich über keine Probleme berichten - entweder habe ich Glück gehabt mit meinen Geräten oder andere haben Montagsgeräte.

Wenn du das Display des GPSmap vermisst, aber Taste für dich nicht in Frage kommt, dann teste doch mal ein Oregon 600 oder 700. Wenn du bei eBay ein günstiges gebrauchtes schießt und im Gegenzug dein altes Oregon verkaufst, zahlst du 50-100€ drauf. So habe ich das gemacht und nicht bereut, die Displays der neuen Oregons sind wirklich um Welten besser als die der alten.
