  1. All family ties aside, color me old school. I prefer grape I thought you liked PINK
  2. Take a look around this community we've built ourselves here, and you'll notice there's a lot of people doing nice things for each other. People have gone so far as to mint and send out coins for free without expecting anything in return. Why do they do it? Because people like nice. Nice makes them feel good. So...if everyone just turned around and sold off the gifts they were given, you'd probably see the "nice" go away pretty quickly, dontcha think? Whether you want to believe it or not, most people are choosing to respect a very well-intended "geocoiners code" that simply says they shouldn't take these actions for granted. If that's "just plain stupid", then maybe you just don't get it. I get it quite well. There are many very good and decent people here, and they do many great acts. What you don't get is...or rather choose to conveniently forget more likely...is that while there are a lot of nice people in this community there are many people who are simply the proverbial wolves in sheep's clothing, ready to pounce on anyone who dare breaks the status quo. Let me ask you this: • Do "nice" people lambast a person because they wish to sell their own property as they see fit? • Do "nice" people think their $3 piece of metal is worth so much that they ask others for two or three of their $3 pieces of metal when negotiating a trade? • Do "nice" people utilize a gang mentality against anyone that thinks differently than they? • Do "nice" people conveniently forget the many times a certain $3 piece of metal was reminted and received with glee yet bash someone who chooses to do the very same thing? Finally...and most importantly... • Do "nice" people become so obsessed with their $3 pieces of metal that they forget about the people...even putting those $3 pieces of metal over human beings? Nice people indeed. I don't paint everyone in the above questions; those that feel (or should feel) guilty when asking themselves what I have asked know who they are. Don't get me wrong...I love to death many, many people here and would do anything for them. However...don't preach to me about how "nice" this community is when I see people engage in one of the five examples I illustrated above on a regular basis. The so-callled "code" is a sham at best. Your coins, your perogative to do as you wish. I cannot tell you what to do with your property, so where do you gain the authority to even hint at what I should do with mine? I know, I know...it's all about this ill-percieved ideal of "integrity" as if there was even such a thing attached to a crummy collection of metal. Anyone...and I do say anyone...who thinks otherwise has been drinking the collective kool-aid for a wee bit too long. They are the ones that put a $3 hunk of metal over the person, and that is sad. So, because "some" people do it, we should all do it? That is drinking the collective Kool-Aid and I am thinking you truly don't get it. Let's all go mug someone. Let's all go steal a car. Let's all go beat up our wife, or husband. Let's all go drink and drive. Some other people are doing it, must be OK!! Pass the Kool-Aid
  3. Yours and TMOCM are some of my favorite coins.
  4. I second this one, with the exception of sending one to Groundspeak.
  5. May be late with this reply, but I have to stress again the View Carre', I have been to New Orleans many times, and have never really felt "unsafe". It is like any big city, watch your surroundings and have fun, that is what most people are in New Orleans to do.
  6. Huh? I have no idea who or what you're talking about. You have my email, use it. sd It has been used, to no response from you except for your diatribe here and on your profile page. I emailed you my cell, my home and my toll free work number. Again, it is up to you.
  7. SD You and I have no history but I shared some info with someone you talked to recently. Call her back and get my contact info then call me and maybe you'll understand the situation better. There you go, that is three offers that I know of, certainly up to you now, we would love to have you back, back in the group, back in active geocaching or just back in however you desire to participate.
  8. It is certainly not up to me, it is up to you, pretty simple really.
  9. Wow, that's not quite what has happened, now is it?
  10. Great job Amagrud!!! I am sure deafhunt greatly appreciates it, we are fortunate to have a great guy like you caching here in Mississippi. For all, Amagrud did the same for me last year, I was sure the coin was gone, and I was in the far north of MS visiting with Avroair and dhenninger, and let it go, two days later I get the call. He was kind enough to gift that coin to me. Thanks again!!!
  11. You never cease to amaze me with your varying opinions, none of which are consistent with your previous opinion. Are you putting this stupid coin above a person, maybe this guy had hardships, maybe he lost his job, maybe his child was sick, who knows, but he was still wrong and you want to ban him/her. It is great to have opinions, but changing them daily is tiresome.
  12. Can you imagine how big the coin collection would be if all those in the photo combined their collections?!?! I recognize a couple of people....but would someone like to post everyone's name there?? Here ya go... Sleepy, Happy, Grumpy, Doc, Sneezy, Dopey, Bashful... Wait a minute, I see at least three Dopeys
  13. Send my your address, you have done me a good turn or two, or three maybe even four
  14. Got my order in, I have been waiting for this one for awhile. Thanks, it looks great.
  15. You missed your chance, it went around the Eartha.
  16. That is a good policy, we use it ourselves in our business.
  17. Exactly, when did getting the coin become so ridiculously important? When did it become a right to get every coin that comes up for sale? What's happened? I'm not even touching the "who's at fault" saga. I have my own opinion, and that stays with me. However, Hula is so spot on here, I finally have to chime in. Well, and since I've emailed that exact statement more than once today discussing this coin. When did it become your RIGHT to get every coin ever made? What makes it a collectors token then? The "your" reference in my previous sentence was not directed at any person, rather a general statement at the angst of not getting it. I know I can remember hammering F5 keys, only to get the big zinger. Guess what I did? I traded for it, and never complained once. That's what the thread at the top of the forums is for, since I think it says "Geocoin Trading". If you missed the coin, it will come up for trade later. If you're dying to get it now, there will be plenty on Ebay. If you don't ever get it, then it will stay at the top of your seeking list, along with Moun10bike version 1, etc. Now, of course, some people read this and say, well, he only thinks that cuz he got one. Well yes, I did. In fact, I was one of the lucky people who my order in, as well as two friends orders. And, yes, a trader set. But, if you look back in the thread (I didn't look up what page), I believe I said "Don't remint for any reason, and whatever happens, happens". It's actually more comical to watch the scramble and mire in the threads, so I wasn't worried about being first in line to finally get my Moun10bike v2 coin for an FSM set Maybe I can get the v1 and v2 set if I wait long enough Nomex, baby, yeah Your right on with this Pete. Post it on your trader lists, hope for the best.
  18. Well you might as well congratulate The Alabama Rambler on finishing 3rd then too Yay TAR I caught **** all the way back to Mississippi for coming in 4th. I think my fellow cachers looked up anyone that ever came in fourth in anything, and then reminded me that no one remembered them either. I want to echo the sentiments of Mark's generosity, everyone who wanted one should have gotten one. Congratulations Mark, may you miss your flight at the next tourney
  19. Well, this was fast. Hmmmm I thought you actually had to have the item in hand to sell it on ebay. I guess I am wrong though...... Actually, this DOES violate ebay rules. You may not presell items you do not have. Also, you are using photographs that are not your own and I am guessing not used with permission. Personally, I think that it is pretty tacky that you are putting up something that fast on ebay that you do not own yet that a lot of people want. I'm new to coin collecting and I managed to get some GW5 sunburst coins that sold out really fast for trading for some harder to get items. I overspent and my hubby was mad at me, but you don;t see me using him as an excuse for selling them on ebay. I've still got them to trade (PM if interested ) and plan on doing just that -- swapping them. Sure, they were remade again and aren;t as hard to come by as this one, but I'm not taunting people. You may not see it that way, but a lot of people do. Coin will be in hand before sale is over. Does not violate any rules. I will have plenty of these up for trade, so once again sorry you feel that way. So how many did you buy? And, yes, it does violate ebay's listing guidlines, you can read them here Sellers Terms I personally don't have a problem with you selling them, but get your facts straight, and as has been said, bragging about it wasn't your best move for sure.
  20. Picked up my 266 gnome while having a late, late dinner with Avroair and dhenninger on my 8 state trip to the land of no "r's"
  21. I actually have some blanks on order to do some experimening with a laser engraving machine I am buying for a different purpose. Seems to me if you had these dies, and a hydraulic press you could make "coins" yourself.
