  1. Not to tick off the Jeep fans but...

Recent models of Jeeps have had REALLY POOR reliability ratings. I'm hoping GM pulls it out and gets the quality up but, until then, I'd go with some of the other recommendations you've seen here.

    That's it . . . now you have ticked me off. :P

If it doesn't say willys on the tailgate it ain't a jeep

Now I'm REALLY ticked off, twice in one thread. ;) We started with the CJ-5 in '78 when AMC had the line. The Grand Cherokee we now have is the Select-trac that is trail rated ... the Commander is our primary Cache-Mobile and has never let us down yet.

    So there . . . I sneer in your general direction. :P

  3. Up for bids next is a lot of 678 'favorites points' on Geocaching.com.

I have NO INTENTION of using them, but would hate to see them go to waste.

Certainly there is some cacher out there who does not have enough 'favorites points' to distribute among their finds?

    Bidding begins at 12,000 quatloos.

I have a case of post holes I could trade.

  4. I have been going on long geocaching excursions lately, finding a dozen or more caches at a time. This morning for example, I found 17. By the end of the hike I wasn’t signing the log sheets anymore, and in most cases, I soon as I saw the cache I marked it as found and moved on to the next. The only time I’ve been open a cache anymore is if my 8 yr old is along to trade swag.

Anyone else skipping the log sheet?

Don't be surprised if the CO deletes your log.

  5. :D hey every one, i was wonedring if anyone knew of any free geocoing chalenges where i or anyone else could win a free geocoin. are there any chalenges working at the momenyt or is it stupid and no one does it anymore?

    thanks every one!

Our last Challenge in Spartanburg, South Carolina cost us about $125.00 for each coin. That's food, gas, motel room.

We could BUY a lot of coins for that $250.00 but they wouldn't mean as much to us.

  6. I think it helps not to have a regular 8-5 job.

I agree. I have a 6-2:30 job. But I would never go caching before work. Which would be the best time.

I would get questioned by the police if I were out in Orange County, CA with a flash light looking in the bushes.

I work 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, I have pretty good luck on FTF's that publish overnight. I recently got 2 FTF's in one morning. I logged one at 5:15 and the next one at 5:25... then off to work. Around here, 20 minutes is pushing it for a FTF that is published during the day.

  7. You know, in a country where 1 in 5 believe that the current President is Muslim this is not surprising.

I understand that a noob who doesn't know where coins come from will use his/her limited knowledge to connect their experience to answer the question. "I see coins in caches therefore that's where they must come from". A little bit like Frankenstein who is told fire is goood and believes it until his friend's house is burned down.... but being brain-near-dead you'd expect that of Frankenstein.

You have to admit it is funny that noobs see coins in caches, see coins go missing from caches, see collectors (where I wonder since the forums are overflowing with posters who try to assist noobs in getting their own coins explaining the facts of life - coinwise that is) trading or talking about coin collections and at some point must see the Ebay sales (several hundred coins for sale everyday) and still come to the conclusion that the stork delivers a bundle of coins to deserving caches and only those lucky enough to be there at the right place at the right time take home the prize.

If 1 in 5 believes a man named Obama has to be Muslim then a man named Jesus must be the messiah returned.... never mind if he's Hispanic and an immigrant..... and babies, like geocoins, are delivered by storks.

How about a reply without your politics embedded in it?

  8. We use: Case-It ZBinder

It holds our GeoCoins on one side and our box of GeoGems on the other, it works out great at events for showing our small collection. It will also hold paper, pens and other items needed for "discovering" other coin collections. We bought it at one of the local office places. . . Staples - Office Max - Office Depot, not sure where.

For the pages, try here: Brent-Krueger

Great product and fast shipping, with no minimum order.
