honestly, my iphone 4 has done everything I've needed it to as far as caching so far (i'm still pretty new to this, but I have taken it out on trails and such), but if you don't need all the other features offered by this or a droid, go with a stand-alone gps. Also, the Groundspeak app lets you download and save cache information for times when you don't have signal. I can also post logs directly from within the app which I like. If you're going to get a phone for geocaching, though, make sure it has an actual decent gps. I used to have an iphone 3g and it didn't do very well.
