  1. Let's cut out the middle man for that one, mark your parking points in MM, make sure to give them unique names, Parking1, Parking2 or whatever, export from MM as an MXF file called parking.mxf in your GSAK directory. Then run this file (parking.bat): Download it here. It will generate a file parking.itn transfer to ppc and away you go...
  2. I prefer the POIs created by G:UK as they can show both found and unfound caches with different icons. ATM I'm working on automating the whole thing so I can output similar files locally via GSAK. If all goes to plan, it will also output Memory map overlays for both caches and trigppoints and send them off to the PPC.
  3. The itinaries allows to to plan a journey to multiple destinations, like say geocaches
  4. Been playing with Tomtom and realised that making itineraries was a pain in the butt, or maybe I'm just lazy... Anyroadup, I've come up with a little script to export them from GSAK, having borrowed (hope you don't mind?) the idea from roolku. If you're already using roolku's Memory Map export script, then ignore the first two steps: 1) get msxsl.exe from microsoft and copy in GSAK directory (usually C:\program files\gsak). Now I'll be damned if I can find where to download it on the Microsoft site now, I got it from here. It's in a zip with some other stuff, you just need the file msxsl.exe. 2) if you don't have internet explorer 6 you will need to get MSXML 4.0 (here) and install it. 3) get the xsl script from my website (here) and put in the GSAK directory (usually C:\program files\gsak) 4) get the batch file from my website (here) and put in the GSAK directory (usually C:\program files\gsak). It looks like this: Edit the c:\geocache.itn to where you want the output file to go. 5) in GASK open "File/Export/GPSBabel custom export" and put the following line in the box that says "GPSBabel statement ..." (you might want to adapt the output path to your requirement) Press the 'Generate' button and an Itinerary file should be generated. You now need to trasfer this file to your PPC, on mine the default location is '\CF Card\TomTom Navigator Settings' YMMV. Now go into tomtom, select the Itinerary screen, click and hold on the main section of the windows, select 'load' and tap on the file 'geocache', the itinerary should be before your eyes. Hope this helps someone.
  5. 190 in 14.29 weeks => 13.3/week Hmmm... time for some more hobbies methinks!
  6. About four weeks ago, I laid a cache that was intended to the end point for a fiendish multi, however, I've not had time to do the other elements and as I've got a TB in there I decided today to do it as a normal cache. Due to limited time today, I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone and incorperate it into my training run as I needed to check it was still OK and remove the FTF prize (too good for an easy cache). So off we went (running partner and I), took a circuitous route up to the location. I'd spent the time going up explaining geocaching and what I was doing to her. "It's in there", I announced and went to retrieve the cache.... .... no cache! First thought it'd been muggled, but the box was fair packed with stuff and there was no cache debris about. Ten minutes later, I found it, good as new, exactly where I first looked! Well I suppose the difficulty may need to be higher now Now I'm home, I'll be blowed if I can find the coordinates for the dadgum thing! They're on the PC somewhere!
  7. As a new geocacher, I never had the pleasure of meeting Mark, however as a user of G:UK and having read many past posts/pages written by him, I feel I knew him in some small way. My thoughts go out to his family and all those who knew Mark, the man, not his cyber-incarnation. May he rest in peace.
  8. Yes I went, it stopped raining before we got to the first cache. Found 7, DNF 1, didn't get near one coz a 'traditional' turned out to be a puzzle and I didn't have a periodic table with me I will TRY to resist getting on my 'dry stone wall' high horse, but I may not be able to. Two of the finds were in walls and the DNF may well be.
  9. First day I've had for weeks to get in some serious caching; what does it do? It's peeing it down. Just my luck!
  10. ^^^^^^^^^ wot they said ^^^^^^^^^^^
  11. Ooooo didn't know that, do share
  12. Some of us have to work Sundays too. Tuesdays tend to be good for me
  13. Hi there, I'd be happy to a) review it and b ) host it so you can just provide a link to it. What about adding a section for PPC users as well? Then it would be a complete guide to paperless caching* * OK somewhere there will be someone using a Psion or Symbian smart phone or whatever...
  14. How could I possibly forget! I blame the folk who set the cache And some more: "Just a minute, it says. S...e...e.....p...h...o...t...o...f...o...r...c...l...u...e. Photo? What photo?" "We came from that way....... didn't we?" And one from yesterday: "What sort of sadistic person puts a cache at the base of cliff in dense woodland?" (I might add that the word "person" may have been replaced with another roughly synonymous word )
  15. Anyone know where this msxsl.exe can be found, the link is now dead
  16. I just got one for £194 delivered from Dixons, £200 to fix is just silly.
  17. OMG! Would be tempted to try the airing cupbaord approach first.
  18. Oooooo.... dunno if it's of any use, but I'm trying to make a tube stylee map to the M62 coridor using the same source still work to go tho, can send you the WIP if you like?
  19. Too right Alex. OTOH I think that if you find the cache an d the log book is missing, that should go down as a find, seems only fair.
