This makes one wonder if Groundspeak is out to eliminate us 'OG' cachers who still prefer to use quality technology over 'everybody got one' cell phones.

    Pisses me off.

I wondered the same thing. If it was a phone problem it would probably get fixed right away. SEVEN months wait time is ridiculous.

But there *are* no updates (for this problem)
    It's just... silence...

Of couse, "posts in the bug reporting forum need to be constructive and helpful to the developers".
So what do you need to know? Is there anything *I* can do?
Is there a workaround? Is there a timeline?

    Talk to us!

They haven't spoken in five months (last update).

I've moved this thread from the General Geocaching Topics forum.

As a reminder, in this promotion the recipients of the trackables were asked to place them in geocaches.  The trackables could be activated and owned by the recipients.

It's difficult to activate a coin if misplaced. Interesting information that may make this sealed trackable even more rare.

  5. I was doing some cleaning and found my John Grisham Racketeer Trackable that resembles a gold ingot. It's not activated and sealed in the original plastic wrap. It had a limited release during a promotion ten years ago.

Anyone know if it has any collectable value ?

I'm repeating the update from Geocaching HQ in response to the false claim that "they continue to ignore the problem."

As a reminder, posts in the bug reporting forum need to be constructive and helpful to the developers.

Then please explain no updates in almost two months? Issue continues for three months.

This bug description is acknowledged a month ago.

A lot of users have this annoying problem.

What about a status message from the engineers ?

I saw the same last weekend, and had hoped it was a one-time glitch, maybe only on my system. But from what you say, it's really a new, permanent bug.

In a way, I got used to the fact, that GS regularly breaks a part of the software, when they are rolling out an "upgrade". But now they also break things, which have worked since forever (like the handling of drafts) without any visible upgrade whatsoever ... *sigh* :(.

These are both common problems. I've been waiting over a month for this issue to be fixed. And naturally we're kept waiting without an update.

What's your factual basis for this statement?  How do you know for certain that a fix isn't in the process of QA testing, or queued up for the next production release?  (You don't need to answer those questions; in fact, I suggest you don't post again to this thread.)

Please be respectful when reporting bugs.  Thanks.

The fact that there has been no update as to its status and no fix for almost a month. And I'm being respectful, please don't assume. I will say no more.

I wanted my username to be the same here as it is on Instagram, but someone has it already here. However they have they have never used their account and they joined nearly 3 years ago.

I emailed geocache and asked if I could have that username, but they said it was too soon to do that yet.

When will I be able to aquire that username please? Thanks

Yes, it's possible but you'll have to wait a long time. For over ten years my name started with a lowercase R and ended with a period. The original name owner was never active or logged a cache. After seeing a similar post, I emailed HQ and requested the name change. They kindly granted me my request. I had to put up with that period for over ten years. Your patience maybe rewarded.
