  1. Can a person go back to a cache he already found once. I ask because the one cache I found someone went to it a couple day's later and left a TB in it. Would it be right or wronge of me to go and get the TB and place it in another cache?
  2. Hello, It is funny how many caches are around. I live near nothing and still found a cache only 6 miles from me. Welcome, good luck and have fun.. What kind of GPS are you going to buy?
  3. Maybe he is lost in the woods looking for a cache.
  4. Wow, great price. I just paid $199 at wal-mart. I wish I would have seen this post before. So did you sell it or is it still for sale. Just wondering.......
  5. My son (age 8) enjoyed trading from the first cache we did. I'm sure trading is something he will be looking forward to doing on all the caches we do. I don't really care if I trade something or not. The search and find is what I enjoy.
  6. ROFL..... I guess you could also just say "I'm just playing with my new GPS".
  7. Any other cachers in the area? What GPS are you using?
  8. I have the Legend. I have never used a gps befor. I really like this one. I love the small size.
  9. The Leprechauns, I just looked at your profile, very nice. Great photo's. Your reply to my post was very good. thanks again. I see what you mean about teaching our children to lie. I will be using items from your list if anyone does ask me. Is your forum username also your last name? I have thought about using my last name too or putting my name in the sig so if there are others interested in geocaching in my area it would be easy to find me. I like the way you added your kid's info in with your profile. I really want my son to be involved in this with me too. Thanks for the great reply, very helpful..
  10. How do you find other people in your area that do this too? In searching a geocache in my area by using my zip code it lookes as if there are a couple of people that maybe in my area as the caches they placed are not to far from me. I email a couple of them to let them know I was new to geocaching and that I have found one so far. I have not heard any replies back. I would be interested in get together with others in my area and even starting a local group/club if there is not already one I don't know about. How should I go about searching for others in my area? Thanks, JP linux@wat.midco.net Milbank, SD N.E. South Dakota near the SD/MN border
  11. Well my son and I searched for our first caching yesterday I was wondering what I would say if someone seen us in the area and asked us what we were doing. I told my son if someone asked we would just tell them we are exploring. Is it a good idea to tell them what you are really doing or not?
  12. Hi, I think the $3/month price is preaty cheap price to pay. The great time my son and I had yesterday finding our first cache was priceless. I'm not sure if you have to be a premium member to download the waypoints too, because I did not try it befor I was a Premium member, but it sure is great being able to download the waypoints and then use EasyGPS to put them in my Etex Legend. Great site, Great forum, Great people........ The best $3 I have ever spent. Thanks
  13. I carry a leatherman micra and a leatherman super tool 200. Between fishing and work I use the two of them daily. I just started caching, but I'm sure they will come in handy at times for caching too.

    Awesome!

Awesome! That is what my 8 year old son said after we found our first geocache tonight. I found GC.com well searching for GPS info last night. I bought my first gps yesterday (5/4/04) I bought it to use for fishing. That's what I told my wife. After searching GC.com to see what was in my area I found one just 6 miles from my home. Well it was already 9:30 at night and very dark outside. I put the info into my gps and went for a ride. Just doing a "drive by" I got to with in 150 ft of it. The night I told my son what I was plaining on doing and asked if he wanted to go with. After I got home from work today we went out. I let him hold the gps and watch the arrow and distance as we drove out there. He also held the gps as we walked the area. I told him before we went that we had to bring something out to leave in the box if we wanted to take something from it. We forgot to bring anything so as we were driving out there I told him we would not be able to take anything from the box as we did not bring anything to put in it. We got out there and spent some time searching around for it. My son looked high and low looking every place it could be. I spotted it first and called him over so he could see it before I moved it. You should have seen the look on his face when he seen it and started digging it out. It was great! It was like we found a long lost treasure. He kept saying "this is awesome!" After we looked inside he seen a drink token he wanted and he said "lets go back to the car to find something to leave" so we did. It was so great, a ton of fun and then some. On the way back to town he said "that was awesome, I will never forget this day" We are going out friday night to try and find another one and maybe more this weekend. I know I'm hooked and I think my son is too.
