  1. Where did you put the gpx file on the Colorado? In the gpx folder? Did you make sure that the file that you moved retained its gpx extension? How have you tried to manually move it over? If you are moving it from a pq, I assume you unzipped the gpx file and that the cache name is listed under "geocaches." But in any event, the information in the Garmin Colorado Wiki is of help for all things having to do with the Colorado.

If memory serves me correct, the "send to gps" button on the cache page just loads coordinates (I don't have my Colorado with me at the moment, but if I am wrong, somebody will be sure to correct me). Using the gpx button to save the gpx file from the individual cache page, directing it to the Colorado's Garmin/gpx folder as a destination, works for me. In addition to moving the gpx manually to the Colorado (whether it be from the pq or the individual page), I sometimes use GSAK to load a pq (or two) and then move it over in one batch. It has a handy macro that does it automatically or you can export the gpx file it creates it to the proper location.

After some more experimenting I am finding that some descriptions are there some are not,

GC1E7BE is not showing up properly on the gps for me but if I load it to gsak I can read the whole file.

One thing I noticed that when I read the description on the website, it says it's a micro.....when I see it on the gps it says no cache size chosen, is it possible it's some kind of a bug?

I can look the info up on my android phone but I would rather have it on the gps

    thanks :)

  2. I must be missing the point on this new feature. The description reads "Groundspeak can send updates to Twitter when you post Field Notes"

I don't quite understand what it's purpose is.

    Is anyone using it?

Isn't it just as easy to directly post via a twitter client?

  3. It does not work on my sprint sanyo 8100. It will allow me to log in, search for travel bugs but when I try to search for a cache my phone tells me I need a plugin for my phone..... and do I want to download the plugin, if I say yes it goes to sprint's site on their download page.

  4. Has anyone used this radio? I was reading a bit about it and really like the idea that it automatically transmits my position.

I'm wondering why one of the radio makers hasn't jumped all over this, 2 meters, TNC, and GPS all in a handii...... Maybe Garmin will beat them to the punch just like the Rino radios they already make.....

  5. Is there any way to diy it.

Like if you where to put one in a golf ball would you be able to track it from a distance.  Something like a transponder?

somebody makes golf balls with RFID chips in them ...you get about half a dozen balls and a device for reading them.....you have to close to use it though..

I think I saw it in one of the recent Popular Science magazines also....

  6. We're experiencing record traffic today, and we're not *quite* set up to have multiple servers running the web site. But we're close. By May 1st we will be much more responsive to peak times.

Be gentle to the machines today. Try logging your finds tomorrow when traffic has diminished somewhat.

I know it's no fun when the servers are getting hammered but geocaching is growing...that's a good thing! You guys do a great job keeping things going for all us "players" :tired:

  7. Also, though the older page showed 200 logs, it only refreshed every 15 minutes. The new page refreshes every 2 minutes. I am considering making it an rss feed.

Great I was hoping RSS would come to geocaching! I am also hoping wap comes soon also.... I know there is a wap now but it doesn't like my phone! :tired:

  8. I found 4 benchmarks this morning, the 5th ky1662 is under going a major overhaul, what happens to the benchmark if they have to reomove it? Do they replace the original or set a new one or maybe not even replace it at all? Work around it?

    Sommes-nous perdus encore?

  9. I had one of my caches destroyed over the week end. This one really made me angry. I think some of the local non geocahers ran across it by accident.

They urinated in the container and also in the ziplock bag holding the log book and stripped the cache of the goodies. My total loss $5.

I will never understand this type of moronic behavior! I never thought peeing in a jar as a fun thing to do.

The cache was getting a fair amount of hits for a new cache....sorry I had to take it down.

I guess I'll just have to make the next one hard to find. icon_wink.gif So these idiots can find something else to do to amuse themselves!

  11. It would be nice to know if any other "hunters"

are out stumbling around in the woods! icon_cool.gif

I think the best thing might be to throw a poll up and ask.... I don't think any one channel is better than another we just have to make anyone who carrys a frs aware if we pick a channel.

I pick channel 9....for no reason.... I just like the number 9!

  13. I turned on my extra data fields on the map page (the ones at the bottom of the screen) One of the fields I want to use is bearing, so far it just displays nw, sw, etc. How can I make it display in degrees instead of just directions?
