  1. local Hamilton Ontario Chachers

I was thinking of ordering some things for geocaching from one of the online stores and was wondering if anyone was interested in a group order to save on shipping costs. Of course you have to live local to me to be able to do the exchange of money and items. Also within this order I was going to order 8 travel bugs, and will be selling off have of them for their selling price. (no profit will be made, bulk ordering is just cheaper).

If anyone is interested please email me through the site. We can work out a way on payment to ensure no one is gettin ripped off.

  2. How about an "on-line" lottery where cachers would indicate their wish to attend and how many tickets they would want (I would say a limit of 2 per cacher). Once you hold the drawing of names then each individual is given a time limit to confirm attendance. The drawing could be for 60 or 70 names with 51 to 70 going on a waiting list for any turned in later. This would take the geographical factor out of the equation and long distance attendees would not have to make arrangements for a "local" to grab extras.

Of course security would have to be increased since the hockey scalpers are out of work and they are short of quality events to work. A GNASHER ticket could demand quite a price.

    Cheers, Olar

I have to say that I think this is the best suggestion so far. It takes the race out of haveing to get out to St. Kits just to pick up a ticket. Also Olar's idea takes a lot of the hurt feelings away because people have the chance to go its just the luck of the draw whether they get the invit or not.

  3. ok I guess I should state when I decode since I started the thread. Personally I wait till i've searched for a good while, usually longer than a half hour. I like to use it as a last resort.

Seems there is a large group that does both, before and after. Kind of neat to see different peoples hunting styles.

  4. This may help a little.

    1) Only use the gps till you get close then start seaching for it.

    2) Print the cache page and bring it with you do you can read it over and use the hint if you need it.

    3) Read the last few logs to see what other people said about the cache

    4) Have fun, and if you don't find it no big deal go back later and try again.

    Good luck and happy hunting

  5. Ok I got a visor deluxe, i got cache mate loaded on the palm,

    1) I can't figure out how to register it,

    2) I can send cache pages to it but I can't get them off after and i don't know how to delete.

So I now have an unregister version on the palm with it full of 10 cache pages that I can't get ride of.

I'm so lost of tired reading the tutorials and they don't help.

Can some one help a lost cacher??

  6. I just paid for cache mate and it doesn't say what to do next so i'm  a little lost, help please.

It would help to know specifically what you're trying to figure out what to do. If you're wondering where to enter the registration code, read the email containing the code again and/or check the FAQ... all of those answers are there.

If you're looking for a tutorial, there are at least three to choose from.

    excellent, that will work

    thanks for the fast reponse

  7. You can move a TB as far or as short a distance as you want, it always helps to know what the TB wants to do in order to help it move in the right direction but its not critical or anything. Just remember to log the TB in and out and try to get it on its way as soon as you can.

    Happy hunting

  8. Ok I'll give this a try and if i'm wrong someone will correct me.

course pointer shows you how far off you are from the direct line of travel to the waypoint and by how many degrees and what angle you need to travel inorder to correct this. Basically it is usless to caching as you will be off line most of the time because you will be fallowing a trail.

As for maps. Mapsource is all you got and they have a wide range to choose from depending on what you need it for. I personally have metro guide v4 on mine and no topo, while other people will say they have topo. If you do a lot of traveling then city maps will be better but if you use it off road more go for topo.

As for your last question I use the navigation screen the most for caching and when i'm driving I use the map page. I've also customized all the pages to show the data I want to see.

    hope that helps

  9. Will a Handspring Visor Pro work for going paperless . Is there enough memory (Its has the extra memory card in it)?, will the programs work on it?

And yes it has the cable to link between the PDA and a PC

here is a link to amazon.com tech sheet for it, (don't worry about the price i'm gettin it some where else) PDA tech data sheet

Also what programs should I use on it and the my PC for the cache pages.

I have no idea how all this works together so any info would be great.

    Thanks in advance

  10. Well the title basically states the question, has anyone had any problems using paypal. I'm thinking about signing up but a little worried about the whole credit card internet deal.

so any info and advice would be great.

  11. I like the idea the only thing I'd like to see is what Mopar stated, that the case can be used with the bike mount and car mount so you don't have to keep chaning backs. As well as long as its water proof all is good with the plug. Although the drop in charger would be good for home I see its use limited in car do to the movment of car.
