  1. ok here's a clue for the islands name, the feeling you get for a DNF
  2. please dont put your result PM them too me - here put how long it took you and what rating you think it should be.[/size] GC287F3 - Black and White squares The cache co-ordinates are encrypted below: Black White
  3. the nearest and first cache that i found was: Red phone box #7 - sholden and was 1.3 miles. i found out about geocaching at work on a frugal forum and signed up to be nosy and found the closest cache to my house and decided to have a look at a cache on the way home from work that night. then for the rest of the week i planned my route home to find another - i found 9 in my first week every one on my way home from work. since then in my area there are now 2509 within 50 miles from my house 10 under 1 mile with the closest at 10 feet from my front door (its mine and in my front garden)
  4. since the last upgrade quite a few of my pages had this poblem. i have mine written in HTML with pictures on the listings. to rectify it i needed to edit the HTML code so the the image's were resised to 500 pixles wide, here is the HTML code i use for a standared camera picture (rectangle) <img src= "http://www.ojalafilms.com/poultry6.jpg" width="500" height="350" /> and the pic the code is for:
  5. not sure what the problem is but on my phone i cant click the decrypt button so i copy and past the hint into this site http://www.retards.org/projects/rot13/
  6. im in the same position as you Larene within 50 miles of my house are 300 puzzle caches a few i have completed but most i can stare at blankly for hours and not solve them, there are a few ways of doing it: 1. email the Co for a hint or starter 2. email one of the recent finders who might give you a shove in the right direction (but might upset the CO) 3. keep checking back as something might click next time you look at it. i have opted for option 3 as i am not one to ask, i may eventualy clock them (dont think i will ever get them all) its no big deal, im here for the fun and to get outside not about the numbers, ive been here for over a year and now found 59 caches.
  7. congratulations on become a true and inisciated forum member - your not truly a member until you get trebble posts or higher. dont worry about the multiple posts it happens al the time, either a mod will remoev them or, they will stay there until the post is archived.
  8. I have seen on quite a few profiles a chalange chart and sevral levels of awards for being a "well rounded cacher" to get theawards you complete a % of all cache levels. 1 star terrain with 1 star difficulty 1 star terrain with 1.5 star difficulty 1 star terrain with 2 star difficulty and so on............... is there a Uk version of this as so far seems to be overseas doing this, also who dishes out the awards??
  9. some nice pics there, ive never met a snake while out caching but i use to have a 10ft Burmese Pythons that lived in my bedroom i called it: Claris"S"sa ive still got one of her old sheddings that measures 8ft, ill dig out a few pics if i can
  10. decg has mail waiting in his inbox over this very matter already
  11. my original quote was for 1.5" badges, but when they sent back the quote it was for 4 inch badges, more thike patches. i have emailed them back and they stated that the amount of wording will be too much for the small badge. I have responded asking for a quote on a 2 inch badge with my monkey with just Dave.In.Deal above. 1000 = 60p each so still £600 to fork out in one go - in my opinion better to create a coin for half that price
  12. i was planning on organising all event prior to starting. I have planned the route taking 50 miles per day. The only downside to planning in advance is that i cannot do more than my 50 miles per day, or by the 4th day when the event is planned at XXXX i could be 40 - 50 miles further along, on other days i might find it hard going and strugggle to make 50 per day so wont even reach the location the event is planned. this is why i thought of the fariability to update the coordinates every day so people could just turn up if im close to where they live. any thoughts??
  13. We probably have 3 main one's with two or three very close behind them.
  14. oh! do keep us updated on the quote price! i have just recieved the quote back......... 100 4" Tolley badges with light blue background, white writing, and Red edging featuring my monkey and written around the edge: Produced by Dave in Deal, Use as Swag or Keep, But Trade up or Trade Even £170 INCLUDING p&p + vAT SO £1.70 PER SWAG BADGE.
  15. Soon im doing a charity cycle ride and hope to clock plenty of caches on route. i was planning on every 4th day having it off and having an event.. but i thought of the idea if it will be allowed of a moving event, if every night i set up tent change the events co-ordinates to my new location, that way every night at every location rather then one every 4 days this means more cachers could come along say hello , have a few beers and sign the log. the journey will take about 30 days so by the end it could be at mega event status, and means i dont need to work out 30 event pages and if one day im doing well i wont have to just stop because that where the event was planned to be. here is the currant route this may change to involve lands end and possibly extend up to john o grots so every point of UK (and Ireland are covered) the cycle is in aid of CHILDREN with LEUKAEMIA as my cousin has been diagnosed with it and needs a full bone marrow transplant. Out of all the family that took the test none are a match.
  16. if its a forum post that you have created and want to change, it can only be done by a mod. the easiest way is click the report button at the bottom of the post description, type what you need done and this will submit it to a mod as well as a direct link for the mod (saves on work for them) and means it will be highlighted rather then hidding in there email inbox. if its a geocache listing thats published, go onto it and click on the right hand side: edit listing, then you can change the name and submit changes **edit for spelling
  17. i cant help with the iphone app but the postcade is a known problem since they last updated the website, to fix it add UK after the postcode example using my Postcode is: CT140HW, UK if its from your home you after the other option is to go into your profile (www.geocaching.com/my) and on the right half way down, under search options you have search for nearest caches click (filter out finds) and this will remove all your found anfd your published caches and list them by distance (closest first from your house)
  18. congratulations to the winners - but you missed a great oppotunity for me to make a complete fool of myself in front of others. if anyone is willing to send me a coin for my collection im happy to profide proof of a foolish and embarising act for it!!
  19. when i first started i was using a tomtom it was ok when combined with google maps or g-earth an i managed to clock 11 caches that way. its ok if the caches are at the roadside on or near payments but as soon as you move away from the road/path its useless. one cache the tom tom said that i had arrived at destination a long search and 3 visits back, still no find, when i got my blackberry and blackstar first visit back it was found - a 12 meter distance further from the road into the undergrowth
  20. OK as we need another, here we go............. Name of island - closest cache
  21. That is a big well done DING Thought it whould have you stumped for a while with the lefty lorry
  22. cache was found 56 hours after being published, The FTF hounds round here are normaly got 2 or 3 logs within the first two hours, the best i have seen was 12 minuets after publication (they got the message as they was driving homee and it was en-route to there house)
  23. i have been looking at droid applications myself as im hopefully getting a HTC in the next month or so. i have heared that GeoBeagle is a good one. (reference to unauthorized application removed by Groundspeak)
  24. FTF has just gone - 56 hours after publication normal in this area its within the first hour or so and one of my others went within 15 min,
