  1. I would like to see a Time field added to the cache log along with the date. The logs are sorted chronologically in the order that they are entered. I think it would be nice if the logger could put in the approximate time of the find. That way, the logs would be sorted in true chronological order of cache find, by date and time. Of course, if the logger didn't enter a time, it would default to the current time. Thanks.
  2. In King County (and I assume other counties as well), you can go online and find out who owns what parcel of land. For King County, go to www.metrokc.gov. Then scroll down on the left side until your cursor is over "Property". A pop-up box comes up and you then click on "Maps". Under the heading "Property Research", click on Parcel Viewer. You can then search on a property by Parcel Number, Address, Street Intersection, or Navigating by Map". Once you find a parcel, you can find out who the Taxpayer is, the address, parcel number and other information. Try it on your own property to see what information you can get!
  3. Testing Avatar Image.
  4. My most memerable hiking experience was when I was in the Boy Scouts, sometime around 1964-65. We hiked a 70 mile stint along the Cascade Crest Trail from Stevens Pass to Snoqualmie Pass in Washington State. We took 9 days and spent two nights at one location. It was a great experience and something which I have not had the opportunity to do again, altho I do think about it from time to time. Bob
  5. Just last week while looking in a likely spot for a cache, i turned around to be looking at the first below ground hornet's nest i have ever seen, about 5 feet from me. There was a small hill a few inches high, with an opening about an inch in diameter. The hornets or wasps were flying in and out and all around. After my initial surprise and looking in disbelief for about 15 seconds, my brain kicked in and i exited rearward before i riled up the hive. I'm happy to report that there were no stings.
  6. I never heard of needing a license to operate a police scanner. Like a Ham radio.....don't need a license to listen to others.....just to broadcast to others.
  7. Don't knock it until you try it. Nude hiking is a great activity. Being naked with nature is a great feeling.
  8. No uniforms or costumes here. Less is best I think. I have hiked into a cache site and if I have not seen another soul, I have taken it off and hiked out nude, at least until i reached the edge of civilization.
  9. I have seen pictures of those fake sprinkler head caches. So I couldn't guess how many real sprinkler heads I have unscrewed looking for the contents inside
  10. Night caching? You mean geocaching at night? Like not in bed after 11:00 PM. Let's face it, I am not a night person. But early AM would be great. I'm usually up between 4-5 AM. Just the other morning, upon checking my emails, I found that a Jeep TB was placed not 2 miles from home. So at 5:30 AM I was there to retrieve it. To the dismay of 3-4 others who went for it that morning
  11. If I'm off, i would love to come. I have already met Adrian. It is about time I met Seth. It seems you both are good friends of our neighbors, John and Mark. Who, by the way, got me started in geocaching.
  12. I had Groundspeak archive "Depot Detour `Elua by hilogirls" because someone took the ammo box but left the contents scattered all over the ground. I have tried to get hold of hilogirls but no luck so far. The contents of that cache are in a paper bag in the back of my car.
  13. Does anyone know how to get hold of "hilogirls"? I found the location of the cache "Depot Detour `Elua by hilogirls". The container was missing and the contents scattered all over the ground. I tried emailing them via thier profile on geocache.com but apparently it is an invalid email addr. So I contacted Groundspeak and had them archive the cache until it is restored. I have not heard from the owners yet. I have all the contents in bag in my car, just waiting to be returned to the rightful owners if they would contact me. Thanks
  14. Wear overalls or something. Tell people you work for the local Natural Gas company and that your GPS is a gas sniffer, looking for a gas leak.
  15. You know during football season, the term 'football widows' come into play, that is the wives being totally ingored as the husbands are into the games. Anyone here feel the same way about 'geocaching spouses'? Feel you ignore your family or spouse for the adventure of the hunt and find?
  16. I've quickly sort of gotten to hate micros located in the woods/wilderness areas. Like looking for a needle in a hay stack where the hay stack is huge and the needle is microscopic.
  17. I lived in Boise for 3 years, from 1959-1962. I still have fond memories of hiking and camping as a Boy Scout. Whether Boise is actually in Idaho could be debated I guess.
  18. Just a name I made up on the fly. We have 5 cats and everyone without exception just lay around and mostly sleep!
  19. I'm fairly new at this geocaching craze (15 finds). But I usually take nothing and leave nothing (I like the hunt). However, recently I saw my first "wheresgeorge" $1 bill in a cache so I took that and left a different $1 bill. A few times now I have taken $1 bills and placed them in zip lock snack baggies with a lable saying that this bill has been recorded at "wheregeorge.com" and then leave these bills in various caches, taking nothing in return. Hopefully, down the road, I can see where all these dollars are traveling to. LazyCat
  20. Another thing about microcaches.... Look into the future, 10 years from now. GPS will have to advance so that they are accurate to within inches instead of yards. Because the earth will be saturated with caches. They will have to be hidden every 5 yards apart. LazyCat
  21. My concern with micro caches in rural/wilderness areas is that the undergrowth is getting trampled on where people are looking for these items. Unless the hiding place is fairly easily determined with or without clues, I would think the traditional larger sized container would be more appropriate. I am not a staunch environmentalist, but do hate to see the vegetation trampled on. LazyCat
