  1. Dont be to concerned about this. Every PP made will run any software I ever used for geocaching just fine. And memory size never came close into play. The big deal on PP is the visibility out in sunlight. Most colored screens do just fine and gray screens might take your hand to shade some. Software. You can go GSAK, Cachemate. Or the free route using Plucker or Sun and GPX2HTML, Watcher if you have combine PQ`s.
  2. try retrieving the unlock code from Garmin instead of typing it in.
  3. The maps on the region dvd`s are the same maps that are on topo USA ( I believe, noobie here also) so if you loaded Oklahoma from that one you already have the data on it. Also the PN is not like the garmin, you can send selections and it will not overwrite the previously sent ones, so you keep adding them to the unit. If you have the newest version of GSAK you can send to the PN directly. If you plan on using the logging option on the unit make sure you have %code for the waypoint name.
  4. After 7 years and almost 4 months one of my TB`s has finally been placed. Started off being mad at the cacher for keeping it, not answering e-mails. Then it turned to worrying that maybe something had happened to them or they just stopped playing the game and I just wrote it off and forgot about it. Today I received an e-mail saying they had lost it during a move and they dropped it in a cache. First one they have logged that they have found since picking it up.
  5. Take a look at TinyGPX and the Example page and see if it would work.
  6. 1) Denny Hamlin 2) Kurt Busch 3) Juan Montoya
  7. You found one of the disadvantages of buying the maps on the SD card, they do not work in the pc, just the gps. Have you turned on the maps on the gps? Not knowing what model its sort of hard to tell you the steps on doing that.
  8. I too received one of these great tokens. Now I have one sitting on both sides of my computer. Thank You so much.
  9. You could try reformatting the SD card and hope its only a corrupt file on it and not the card that is bad.
  10. Depends on what GPS unit you have. It could be anywhere from just the bare name, ,GC #, coords to pretty much everything on the cache page. GSAK- you can do lots of things with this program. There is a learning curve but it is widely used so there is lots of help out there.
  11. Or you could go the free route. GPX2html to convert it then Plucker, both desktop and for the palm needed. Takes some work to figure it out but not to terrible. I used it for years until I started using my iphone. Oh and if you have to combine gpx files there is Watcher, a free gpx utility program.
  12. I could see why you would be confused. Like jholly mentioned, Easting and Southing refers to UTM (WGS84 uses North, South, West, East) so you would have to convert S 32° 11.097 E 116° 01.285 to UTM which would be 50H E 407752 N -3561356. The decimal symbols would be placed E 407.752 S 3561.356. So here is where confusion enters. UTM does not use minutes, it uses kilometre. So either you assume you alter them by -.2 and +.5 coming up with E 407.552 S 3561.856 and convert back to WGS84. Or you can assume that Easting and Southing are use wrongly and you use straight WGS84 and come up with the others solution.
  13. are they over 50 miles from your current location? You have to search by name if over.
  14. If you are using this macro you will need Garmins POI Loader installed. When you run the macro make sure you know where you are saving the file to, I have mine go to a folder named POI. Next connect your gps and turn it on and run the POI loader program and point it to that folder and it will load them onto the gps as POI`s. If you need more help feel free to e-mail me.
  15. You could try a hard reset -- 3rd button down left side , enter, and power. secrets
  16. Take a look at this page, it will show you just what you can put on the 60CSx using Garmins free POI loader and the gsak macro and give you an idea what it will look like. This macro will load logs ( 99 if you happen to have GSAK set up to store them ) but as pointed out it can/will be across multi POI pages and they are random order.
  17. If they are not on the gps you are going to have upload them to it by using xImage, which is a free download from garmin. Here is another page you can get the geocaching icons.
  18. Haven`t been buying to many coins of late but this is a "got to have". Love design and love the saying on it.
  19. I`ve pretty much stuck with the B&W. I think the 1:24 is just to much info on the screen so stuck with topo 8 on that
  20. I just returned from a vacation and found one of these waiting for me. Thank you so much Gardengorilla. I`ve so busy with work, getting ready for and the vacation with very slow limited internet access, 6 month old twin granddaughters, that I havent been following the coin forums to much. This was such a nice surprise, I had never even seen the thread on them. Thank you so much again.
  21. Depends on where you want them. put %hint in the field description(comment) section in the GPS/send waypoint window. Special Tags
  22. You can put waypoints in by hand. There is a button with a thumb tack on it and you use that, its right next to the power switch. Why were you looking at the 40 if the compass, altimeter, barometer didnt matter to you? The 30 has the same features except for those.
  23. You have to be zoomed to at least .8 and have your unit set to "see most" under the detail section to see POI`s on the maps. Sorry I dont have my girlfriends HCx now but on my 60CS it under Menu>Menu>Setup>Map>General>Detail>Most Link to forum post on it.
