  1. There are so many ways. Quick way is install Garmins Communicator Plugin . Free. Not sure if it still has the 5 per day download limit. Another way is to download the .loc or .gpx (preferred, it has more info) and then use a program such as EasyGPS (free) to transfer them. Or you can use mapsource which should of come with your gps. GSAK (free to try with nag screen, $25 to buy) is another way but its intimidating when first using it, there are so many things you can do with it. As mentioned you can also set up a PQ and use one these programs (except the communicator ) to load that.
  2. Dont loose sleep over it. Those are guidelines, not rules.
  3. Are you using this macro and installed it? And you are getting your files as .gpx files, not .loc? Next in GSAK go to Macro up top and click on Run/Manage. In that next window that opens highlight 60CSxPOI.gsk and either double click it or hit the run button. In the next window click and choose what info you want sent, check out the advance page for more options, and run it. As always know where its saving the file to. Next hook up and turn on your gps, start Garmins POI loader and run it and point the loader to where you have the file saved. thats it.
  4. You have to save the file, dont use "open with". Then to transfer to your gps you can use the mapsource program that came with your gps or EasyGPS ( which is free). There are a few more programs you could use also.
  5. I am going to guess that you are loading caching onto a garmin and they are not showing up. If they are over 50 miles from your current location you have to search by name, not distance, for them to show.
  6. Have you installed the Garmin Communicator program?
  7. not sure if garmin has changed it but they did have a limit of 5 per day downloads.
  8. You can put the hints in as POI`s using this GSAK macro and Garmins POI Loader. Run the macro in GSAK and it will create a file, as always know where you are saving the file. Then just run the POI Loader and point it to that file. When you need the hint just hit find/POI and it should be the closes one. I turn everything off except the hint on the macro.
  9. Here is a good write up on tick protection done by By ArcticAbn and posted on the MnGCA org site. write up One thing not mention is the toxicity of Permethrin to cats. The stuff is very toxic, wet or dry, to cats and everything that is treated with it should be kept away from them.
  10. No LE`s with gum in the middle? XLE`s with caramel? Guess I will have to wait for that bunny coins to come out.
  11. Did you just update Firefox? FireFox 3.6 is know not to be working with the send to. Delorme is reportedly working on it.
  12. Here is the GSAK macro StarBrand talked about. I have it set up to just load the hint and also have it set up so in the name of the cache it tells me, by using letters and numbers, the type of cache, terrain and difficulty, and what the last 4 logs where. So you get something like "cache name T 2, 3.5 FFNF". This would tell me its a traditional container (T), difficulty of 2, terrain 2.5 and its been found, found, not found, found. I also load the caches as waypoints/geocaches. I dont use the geocache feature so I load them as waypoints. If I need more info or the hint I just do a find/POI and seeing I am right there it will be the closes POI.
  13. Looking at my old ones from 01, 02 I can see who published them. They are not notes but in the lines below Current time, Last Updated, Last Found at the bottom of the cache page. Here is one from Nov 5 2001 and yes, that is the man who published it. For some reason this one doesnt.
  14. Its now been picked up and moved a few times now.
  15. I`ve picked up many TB`s and coins with no paper, its been lost, destroyed and/or you cant read it and dont know the goal until you log it. What I dont understand is on a lot of mine I state no TB Hotels but cachers still place them in there.
  16. My TB MIA for 7 years and almost 4 months.
  17. so what is the err message you are getting if any? I dont have a Nuvi so dont know if is the same as other Garmins but if the waypoint/cache is over 50 miles from your current location they will not show unless you do a search by name.
  18. try updating the firmware. update Or it could be the connections and maybe a good wack will help solve it.
  19. I downloaded easyGPS last night and it's so easy that it doesn't even appear to be functional. How do you toggle those fields in easyGPS? In EasyGPS go to Edit/Preferences. in the box that comes up click on the geocaching button. in the waypoint box select waypoint name and save.
  20. are they over 50 miles from your current location? If so try searching by name to see them.
  21. FF is up to at least 3.5.8 Update, update, update. We all cant say it enough, Thanks for these scripts
