  1. When it comes to good geocaches, I'm torn between quality of the contents and how well it was hidden. I've gone out geocaching and found some geocaches where the water was wet, no writing instruments and no geoswag inside, but it was in a really good hiding spot and I had fun finding it so I don't really care. Whereas I've found other geocaches that were pretty much in the open but I was able to write in the log book and swap out some cool geoswag, I found them equally as fun. I guess it depends why you're geocaching, but it's always great when they're harder to find and there's a bunch of geoswag in there. Makes it feel more rewarding
  2. Whenever I go out and get geoswag, I always think to myself "if I found this in a cache, would I be excited to see it?". I don't like it when people include 'trash' (things they probably found on the floor of their house), I don't find it enjoyable. I tend to go out and buy geoswag quite a lot because I always leave some geoswag in a cache, even if I don't swap something out. But when I go out to buy new geoswag, I go to supermarkets, two-dollar stores and anywhere else I can find cool stuff. I tend to spend on average $4 per geoswag and every time I buy it, I think to myself "if I found this in a geoswag, would I want to trade for it?". If my answer is no, then I don't buy it, simple as that. In the past, I've bought small snow globes, little teddy bears, really cool badges and some DIY swag.
  3. I don't have any strict rules, but there are some patterns that I've noticed. I tend to look for a cache for about 30 minutes. If I can't find the physical cache, then I consider it a DNF and log it. If I'm looking and get made by a muggle (they come up and ask what I'm doing or one stares at me while I search) then I consider it a DNF, but I don't log it. To me, it's not a "did not find" as much as it was "I was noticed and thus I have to stop looking"
