  1. i achieved reading this but from the two logs you listed it sounds like a valid reason to let cache go. too bad it was on your to do list, but some times some things happen
  2. today i was seeking out a cache at a busy public access in west central MN one fisherman asked me what i was looking for. i had to use the line i have used many times over....i am looking for army worms....so far no one has ever asked for more information but if they did i have some more bs i could throw in there!
  3. i will give it a go, maybe i will learn something
  4. they are in the same place they are now. there is a link for their test site floating around on another forum...
  5. you could also use easy gps, its a free download from the geocaching resources page. one downside with this program is that you need to unzip your pocket query, so you will have to get a program to do that. once you plug in your gps to the computer (assuming your using windows as i am, 7 to be exact) a window will pop up that asks you if you want to open folders to view files, click it, open up your explorists gc folder. now open up your download folder along with your explorist folder and drag your pocket query into your geocache folder in under your explorist folder. that is how i load my pq's when i use my explorist, i also use a garmin etrex vista hcx, it is a lot more accurate. i bought the magellan for the maps and cache description. i now have a droid phone and use cgeo, i use this to drive to the location and the garmin to locate the cache. the phone has almost made the magellan obsolete. but it is still good to have a backup, especially for event caches. i can manually input waypoints in the explorist fairly easily compared to the phone. that way i can see road maps on how to get there, and then use my magellan to locate the caches. hope that helps
  6. I once found a letterbox about 100 feet from a cache. There was a time the sidekick and I were caching in a park looking for about ten caches. We came to a spot I remembered reading about in a description for a multicache, we decided to try to skip a few steps and see if we could find it. Turns out we were right, sidekick walked right up to a hollow tree and pulled out an ammo box. I had a cache on some ski trails, I went to check on it this fall and noticed the dnr had done a controlled burn in the area so I decided to pull my cache, it wasn't burnt. I opened it up and found three more signatures than what it had listed online, one turned out to be the people that did the burn, they left me a match.
  7. here is my WISH list: a cache mobile, f-250, unlimited free fuel, a car gps, a netbook computer, a boat (light duty fishing boat will do) a geo-dog, how about a chesapeak? a metal detector, a wireless printer, infared camera (flir i think its called) a nice digital camera, and yes more time for the game, yes its a wish list, if your gunna dream, dream big!

  9. i have only had one run in with the cops, it goes like this: i went looking for "uffda's micro" which really is a great cache, hit it up if you ever get to central MN. I have the find come to the show the sidekick the pictures i took of the great container and then crossed it off my sheet and was getting ready for the next hunt, but here comes a truck passing by and then slams on the breaks whips around and parks right behind me (got me pretty nervous being off the beaten path and all) out jumps a guy in full sherrif's attire (that got my heart racing a bit) so i roll down my window, leans down, looks around (freaking out in my head, what the hell did i get into) he then grins and asks if i found HIS geocache (sigh of releif) we then talk and go our seperate ways. but yeah that was my cop story...have a great day.
  10. i cache because its fun, get you out of the house and besides someone needs to find all that tupperware!
