  1. I am sure that this topic has been covered in the past, but I cannot find it. I am putting together a very cool puzzle cache and need to insert about 30 very small pictures in the description. How do I get them in the description? Thanks
  2. I am trying to run a pocket quarry for all of my finds in the state of Washington. I have set up the search so that it should grab all found caches and I have attended a bunch of events. It looks like all of the other types of caches are listed except the one web cache I have found. Is there something different about events and web caches that are not retrieved when you list them as found?
  3. I am having the same issue with my NUVI500. I can not remove the old geocaches. I have even gone so far as deeting the GPX folder. Once I power back up and load any .gpx file the old data is back. Any ideas on a "REAL" master reset?
  4. I have a NUVI 500 and it works well, but I am hving some file issues currently. It is actually set up with a geocaching menue. It also works very well in the car. You can set it to a walking mode that gives you most of the features of my GPSMAP60. The nice part about the NUVI is that it holds all of the file data so you have everything you need for paperless caching.
  5. I think I found out how to fix the issue based on something I heard last night on a different forum. Someone mentioned that when they deleted the archive folder the NUVI built a new folder. Last night I deleted the GPX folder and all of the old caches went away. When I disconnected the NUVI and started it again it built a new GPX folder and to my amazement all my old caches were gone. There must have been a hidden file or something in that folder that retains the cache info. Or it is just magic! What ever happened I don't care because it seems to work. Thanks for your help. I thought I had it fixed, but I was wrong! The situation is this. When you erase the GPX folder in the Nuvi it deletes all of the geocaches or at least it makes them invisable. As soon as you create a new GPX folder all of the old geocaches that must be stored in memory come back to view. The unit must be storeing this data in some other file. Now I need to find that folder and clear out that file. If you have any ideas let me know.

  7. I am loading them as a gpx file into the GPX floder, so I assume that they are waypoints. The interesting thing is that they did show up in my favorites file today as waypoints and not geocaches. The icons were correct, but there was no GPS data associated with them. I am thinking that I may have a problem in the download from geocaching.com or in GSAK The interesting thing is that I still have all of my old geocaches loaded even though I have deleted the file in the GPX folder.
  8. Yep the firmware is up to date. I even deleted the GPX folder and then reloaded it. When I loaded the GPX folder it went through the initialization sequence and built a new empty folder, but the old data was still in the unit. There must be a file that the .gpx data is loaded to and then the unit uses the internal memory to acess the data. It is strange when all the .gpx files are deleted I still have geocach data resident on the unit. I have reset the unit using the lower right hidden buton, deleted all user data and unplugged the battery for 12 hours. For some reason I can not get rid of the old .gpx data. There has got to be a way to clear out that internal memory so that it can lad new data.
  9. I found a strange problem that I can not seem to fix with my NUVI 500. It is related to the other issues on this thread. I can not seem to get rid of old caches in the unit and load a new .gpx file. I have been doing this now for over 6 months and it has worked up to now. I delet the old .gpx file and load the new file, biut the old data stays in the unit. I even deleted the GPX folder. When I did this it initiated the start up geocaching sequence and built a new GPX folder, but when I load a new .gpx file I continue to get the old data. I am running the latest firmware.
  10. Not using a MAC. I have deleted all GPX files How do you do a hard reset? Is this the hidden button in the lower right at start up?
  11. I have been using my NUVI500 for about 6 months and it has been working great until just recently. I use GSAK and create a .gpx file that I have been copying into the GPX folder on the unit. The problem is that I have deleted the old file and loaded the new one, but the old data is still coming up in the geocaching menu and the new data is not showing up. I have updated the firmware and rest the unit using the hidden key in the lower right. I even removed the memory card I had installed. I have no idea where the file that has this data in it resides and how I get rid of it. On a similar note I have not been able to delete geocaches once I have found them. They seem to stay in the unit forever and I cannot get rid of them. Do you have any idea what is going on with this unit?
  12. OK. This is my first time "posting" to this forum. Please be gentle! I saw LostinReno's posts on "the other format" & came over here to check it out. Hey, Gary found her at a cache & that's what he took from the cache! It's a story for another time... These are random thoughts... here goes... 1. We want to go to Roseville! Is the bike trail a mountain bike trail? Our son would love this or I should say for NV Wolf, my navigator for the '05 rally. (we should have been 3rd in the night rally, but we did our best & placed 4th (that was our first rally!) 2. We wondered where some of the tried & true geo-cachers were hanging out. I guess we know now! 3. We LOVE the pic you choose as your av??? (whatever it is called! I am totally computers 101!), LostinReno! I/we think the Halloween event turned out pretty well. Thanks for using that picture. 4. "Hey" Rusty, et all! 5. All I/we want to do is geo-cache, have a good time, keep personal feelings out of "things", try to meet as many geo-cachers as we can & attend outings! I use the I/we because I am on the BOD of GBES, Gary is not. I chose to participate on the board because I really think we need a BOD that is supportive of all geo-cachers & keep it FUN! 6. FUN, FUN, FUN! That's what we want. No ill-feelings, no tit-for-tat....FUN! OK! I rambled long enough. Hope this all works, I/we will stay tuned & we hope we are good to go! Nexus-Wanderer Gary & Mary Ann Just a little P.S. I wondered where all those signal "little heads"/smiley faces came from... now I know! Hope it worked! Hope I can post this, too!
