  5. vantage point is no longer needed unless you want to run pocket quires and do bulk loading now if you have the cable you can download caches from the cach page by clicking on the send to gps button the first time you will have to load drivers but after that just click let it find the gps the click on write.
  6. do some online stalking look at the caches close to you see who hid them read their profile to see if they are still active and finding caches send them an email the odds are they dont read the forums and wont see this post

  8. a few months ago I went to a park to do a series of caches, most of which were ammo cans. by the end of the day, the ammo can under the pile of sticks became a joke. most you could spot from 30 ft away
  9. you would have to plan out your route very carefully and really hump remember not all of those will hold a playing card
  10. How long it takes, there is no answer I have gone for caches that I could guess where they were from 100 feet. others I searched with a friend for half an hour before finding. Personally, I choose daylight its too easy to zip over something with a light and miss it. have fun keep searching
  11. alot of people without the paperless feature will print off the cach page with description and clues until I upgraded I was printing a map of the area I was going and marking the caches in the area so I could navigate close Now I have street level maps and paperless, paperless gives me description clues and the last few logs which comes in handy if the cach has gone missing
  12. When I first started caching one of the things that really got me hooked was finding parks I never knew were there. I like the idea someone else had, pre find a cach in a cool park, close by, that your wife hasnt been too. Take her for a walk in this cool park I found while geocaching, dont even take the gps, as you pass the cach, go "oh look this is the cach I found" and show her Pre finding it will ensure it is there, a good container with clean swag.
  13. so I went a few weeks ago and checked the bird cach. it held up to the winter weather really well I went back this week to restock the swag it held up to the winter but some of the local wildlif didnt take too kindly to it The eyes are gone as well as all the feathers on its head there are also a few small holes in the plastic
  14. another place to get them http://www.techblazer.com/geocaching-log-sheets/

  16. I have been looking thru a catalog for a company that does promotional items key chains, shirts pens all printed with you companies name I can get keychain flashlights for 85 cents a piece if I order 250 i thought it would be a cool signature item
  17. I hid the bird last oct went and checked on it a few weeks ago It is still in really good shape after a hard winter it has had really good reviews
  18. As everyone else said...as long as you both sign the log book you both get credit Sometimes when people cach together the first person to find the cach will back away and say found it and let the other search for it do it however you like
  19. if it is a magellen triton 300 you can manually put coordinates in it i had to for a few weeks when i first got mine because i didnt have a cable hit menu create pick waypoint or geocach coordinates edit what is there
  20. delete the cach from the gps reload it from geocaching .com once you log a cach as found with geocaching, if you download it to the colorado again it will show as found there may be a way to upload your finds but i havent found that yet. only had a colorado for a few months
  21. $5 are you still working without a gps??
  22. I have only been caching a year. I have 6 hides. I love to read the logs I have been trying to make the caches more challenging as I go. I would like to read logs that tell me how long it took to find I hate tftc When I am searching for a cach, I dislike ones you can spot from 50 yards away especially in a park, its like a lamppost in the woods
  23. path tags and signature items are what you want to collect these are thing people leave in caches that they enjoyed there are lots of cool signature items people leave in caches or trade at events
  24. I have an older 60cs it works great got me to caches. I dont know if I was using all the features that everyone is talking about I recently got a colorado 400t I like, I when I load a gpx file the whole thing is description hint everything, I dont need a secondary program to to this. easy to navigate I dont like , when driving down the road the tracks are usually off to the side of the road. it seem to take some time to find the satellites when you turn it on and are driving
  25. I just made a container with pvc I dont want to get off subject so dont tell me how good or bad that is I was thinking the pvc glue would work wonders fro the bottle cap micros since it actually melts and bonds the plastic
