Howdy,
I need to buy a new handheld GPS reciever due to my GPSMAP 60cs getting stolen a while back. I'm going camping deep in Alaska so this is a pretty critical piece of gear. We'll be out for about 2 weeks so either I'll bring a bunch of batteries or a small solar panel like the Brunton Solar Roll or similar.
Does any manufacturer offer a hand held receiver with a built in rechargeable battery? Can any recharge if used with rechargeable AAs?
The 60csx looks like a good value now so that's probably what I'd choose if there's not a model that can recharge from a cigarette lighter or usb cable.
At this point I'm still open to ideas on using a gps in the field for extended trips. If you have some suggestions like, avoid solar, or whatever I'll appreciate the info. Recommendations on a battery charger you'd take camping?
Thanks in advance
