Would you explain why it may be too restrictive to use on the geocaching.com website (edit: i.e. which clause is too restrictive)? If it were me and I had questions of this nature from a site or two I would email them and not ask this question in a public forum. Great Play! There are three quickie ways: 1. Just copy this: ° to you clipboard and paste it in your document 2. Hold down the ALT key and type 0176 on the number pad (assuming you're using windows), the Degree sign should appear in your document. 3. Find the Character Map tool. Mine is in Start\Programs\System Tools. Copy and Paste as in #1 Good Luck.

Ok, on my 60C, 41 just ends in the river north of Clovis. 168 becomes a thinner line before just ending. They both end at approximately the same latitude 36º 52.537' and 36º 52.351' So that particular tile on the base map is just missing I guess. The detail is there on TOPO Usa and the MapSource map that came with your unit.

You can tell WAAS is working by the presence of little "D" symbols on each of satellite strength bars on the satellite page. Also, one or maybe two of the satellites will have a number above 32. "D", of course, stands for differential, as in DGPS. I use WAAS when I have a pretty good view of the sky at 120°, That's the bearing for the WAAS satellite at Longitude 54° West in these parts. I have noticed that bearing and velocity seem to be computed over some sort of probably weighted interval longer than a second. That means, of course, if you come to a complete stop, your GPSr will still show a velocity for a little bit. I'm using firmware 3.30 on my 60C.

Quotes from Garmin's web site (bolding mine) I suspect that you are defining the route in MetroGuide and downloading that to the GPS? If that's so, the MetroGuide software is performing the autorouting, and downloading a route to you 60CS. Then again, maybe it is downloading an autoroutable map to your 60CS since the two products are so similar(so sayeth Garmin). This is, of course, just a guess, but could explain the apparent autorouting.

Pretending you live in Yreka, California, There are two WASS satellites that you might lock onto: POR which is situated at 178º East and AOR-W at 54º West At Yreka, POR has a bearing of 249º (232º magnetic) at an elevation(angle above level) of 7º. AOR-W has a bearing of 105º (88º magnetic) at an elevation of 14º. Magnetic Declination 16.87º So yes, both are close to the horizon there, but AOR-W is not terribly close. Try finding a spot with a clear view of your magnetic east and try WAAS there. If you have a Garmin, that would be satellite number 35. POR is #47. Magellan does not show the satellite number(AFAIK). I have a protractor-ruler to verify I have a sufficiently low horizon. Info at GPSInformation: WASS Good Luck

Hi Everyone, I'm new here. Regarding DEET, please follow the advice of the American Academy of Pediatrics when applying DEET to your children AAP. My son's doctor instructed us to not use 100% DEET products on him. It has been our experience that no matter what, ticks will get on you. They may not attach, but due to their negative geotrophism, they will climb up you and end up in your house. I've gotten ticks in bed that we've brought it. The best policy is a full body examination. I am also partial to a hot shower with Dr. Bronner's peppermint soap, it seems to stun them. Despite nobody asking, but more advice from my son's pediatrician, there's a product out there called "Ivy Off" that will prevent Poison Ivy rashes if you apply it before going out. You can ask your pharmacist to order it for you. My son's deady alergic to Poison Ivy, so I though I'd pass that along. Cheers

Hi. I'm a noob to this. What got me interested in GPS and geocaching was a galvanized steel rod hammered in the ground at the corner of my property in NW Arkansas (Between Busch and Beaver). I spent years looking for that frigging thing. Finally found it this spring. Now I need to project a line about 0.5 miles due east and find the next IR(or maybe a USACE survey marker on the fee take line). U. Arkansas's geostor was immensely helpful, and I recommend any Arkansas people to check it out GeoStor. Their DOQ Color IRs are just to die for! Wonderfully accurate too! I bought a Garmin 60c from getsfeetwet based on recommendations found here.
