  1. I just bought a 60C. I've been using a Legend for a year.

When geocaching with the legend and let's say the cache is about 300 feet off of a road, I hit the find button and use the map page to get as close as possible by road (no autorouting on this model). Then I switch to the compass page and follow the arrow to the cache.

With the 60C with City Select installed, I hit find and choose "On Road." Then I follow the GPSr's autorouting directions until I am as close to the cache as possible while still being on the road. Since the arrow on the compass page does not work when using "On Road" searching, I now must hit the find button again, choose the correct waypoint again, and then choose "Off Road" for the arrow on the compass page to come up. This seems to be a slow process.

Is there a faster way or short-cut to do this? Is there some way to simply toggle back and forth between "On Road" and "Off-road" so that I can switch back and forth quickly between the compass page (and have my arrow to follow) and the "On Road" directions on the map page?

    Thanks

    Dave

 How about when you are in auto routing and get close to the cache you just press MENU and select RECALCULATE and then select OFF-ROAD. It will automaticly switch you to the compass page with the arrow pointing the way.

  2. Is Groundspeak capable of accepting credit card payments directly for premium membership? ;) I only have 15 days left.

:) I too am interested in knowing this, as I would like to subscribe for Premium membership using a credit card. Is this in the very near future?

  3. I have about 75 waypoints I keep in my 60cs all the time. They are defaulted the blue flag. When I make a routes from NGTopo and send them to the 60cs the same symbols are assigned. I'd like to assign the permenant ones a different symbol.

Is there a way to change all of the selected waypoints all at once short of opening one at a time and changing them? Maybe a different program would do it and I could load it back into the unit?

    Capt.

:D Yes there is a way to do this. First you will need to get a copy of EasyGPS. Once you have it up and running download your waypoints from your GPS unit into EasyGPS. Once done, highlight all of the ones you want to change by holding down the Ctrl Key and selecting each one you want to change. When you have all the ones you want highlighted right click on anyone and then select EDIT WAYPOINTS. A window will open and then you will need to click on the space that is titled SYMBOL. This will show you a list of icons that you can scroll and select the one you want. When you click on OK all your highlighted waypoints will be changed with the symbol you selected. Now you can upload all your waypoints back into your GPS unit. I hope that answers your question. Have fun. :D

  4. I've tried your post out about highlighting the waypoint and right clicking selecting properties how ever there is no property option once you right click.

:D Oh, sorry, I get my directions mixed up sometimes. Right click on the waypoint and select EDIT WAYPOINT. :D

  5. :( I would like to delete my old waypoints and/or geocaches from the database but still have them listed in my calander showing when and what caches I found on those days. Is this possible or is it something that we need to bring up to Garmin about? If I delete a waypoint form my list it is also deleted from my calander as well. Would be nice to clear out all the old stuff and not clutter it up.
  6. So how do I change the Icon in easygps I don't see it. I have a waypoints on easygps but I don't see how you change can change them. Thanks for the support.

:( You need to highlight all waypoints and then right click on them and select properties and then click on the arrow for symbl and select the icon you want.

  7. Thought it time to give it a try. Seems that it (East GPS) is looking for a serial port only. My Garmin Map 60 CS uses a USB port. What must I do to get the download? :(

:D Go to FILE and select PREFERENCE and select USB for your unit. Once it is selected it will be the defalt.

  8. Hehe--you guys are incredible--you are not going to believe this!! I might have figured that out on my own except for one thing--last night when I was getting ready for my excursion today, I was playing around with simulated routes. It kept asking for offroad vs. onroad and I thought who would need this offroad so I checked the box that said don't ask this again!! Well now I have hit all the restore defaults that I can find but still can't get it to ask me whether I want offroad or onroad. Any other suggestions as I sit here baffled?

    Thanks,

    John

:( Oh, and DONT'T check the box that says "Don't ask this again".

Just kidding, I think that if you reset your defaults it should have cleared it but I guess not. I don't have an answer for this one, maybe someone else will. Good luck. :D

  9. I to just got my 60cs on the 28th :-) My question is how do you download the way points into the geocaching page only? Im using easygps to download my way points, But it seems that when you download waypoints it goes to the waypoint page great. Once I change the Icon for geocaching they show up on the geocahcing page as well. Now I have the waypoints on two different pages. If you try to delet the waypoints they delet on both pages WHY!!!!! Can't you just download to the geocaching page only? Does anybody out there know the little trick that IM over looking? Thank for all the support.

:( Yes. when you download them to Easygps, change the icon in Easygps first to the closed treasure chest for each waypoint then upload them to your GPS. This will place them in your Geocaching page and not in the waypoint page. Happy caching. :D

  10. It took me straight the the location but when I got out and tried to find the cache I had no bearing pointer on the compass page. Please tell me I need to change a setting or something because it is going to be a rough geocaching career if I have to follow that tiny red pointer until this unit wears out.

    Thanks in advance,

    John

:( What you need to do is when you get out of the car, press menu and then do a recalculate. You will then get a screen that asks if you want to recalculate for ON road or OFF road. Choose Off road and then you will get the compass page showing the name of the cache and the cords and the compass needle. Follow the arrow on the needle and it will lead you to the cache. When you get within several feet it will beep and say Arriving at (cache name). Your accuacy may be off so search around until you find it and then highlight the "found it" on the compass page and press enter. It will log it into your calander on your unit for furture refference. Happy caching. :D

  11. Well, Duh... What I was doing wrong is that I didn't know I could load the maps from the different programs all at once. I would load City Select when I would be driving, then load Roads & Recreation when I would be hiking, etc.. I've got it working now. THANK YOU! :)

:D Glad to be of assistence.

  12. WOW! I didn't know. It always erases my last map set when I load the new one. What am I doing wrong???????

:) You have to select which map set you want to use on your GPS not from your computer. Go to your map screen press menu scroll over the the 'I' or info icon and then press menu again and then make your selection. You can only use one or the other not both or all at the same time. :D

  13. It does have that feature - when you have the same screen to turn on or off the individual maps, press menu.

That will bring up a box that allows you to turn on maps as a set.  You will see all the relevant maps are checked or unchecked for you.

Do you mean that I can have both Mapsource City Select and Mapsource Roads & Recreation maps loaded at the same time and switch between them???

:) Yes, and Mapsource Topo as well.

  14. How do you download them in bulk?

If your a Premium member you can do a PQ and download as many as you want at one time from what I understand. Otherwise you can dl only as many as there are on one page by clicking in the check box on the right side of each listing and click on download waypoints.

  15. I am having problems downloading waypoints from the website. I have a Garmin 60c with a USB connections on the unit and lap top. I have downloaded both GSAK and Easy GPS programs and joined as a premium member. Every time I hit the dowload button I get the instruction web page??? any Ideas???

I had the same problem. What you have to do is first click on "Yes I agree the rules of Goundspeak.com Fourms" and then once you agree you can download all you want. :P
