  1. In terms of Sage One (do not archive), the encasement for the ammo can is in the ground at the base of a sagebrush , however the ammo can it self is not "buried", it is simply placed inside the encasement. It is a very clever hide and really the least intrusive way to hide an ammo can based on my experiences..... this hide in my opinion does not qualify has "buried" at all. Nothing gets disturbed when retrieving and returning this cache, unlike when you see them placed in "rock piles" and bushes and other plant life...over time the plants get trashed, and the rocks piles are rearranged. In terms of rules/guidelines.... I think it depends on the reviewer and if he/she decides to "follow them", in short...I notified our local reviewer of a cache on private property,,,,cache was archived...Okay....a few years later a local cacher unknowingly placed a new cache in the same area ... cache gets approved...I notified the cache owner and reviewer of all private property info... property owners, plot maps, etc. cache archived...... then interestingly enough a few months later the "SAME" reviewer "approves " the original cache under a "new owners name" in the same area and yes on private property. It sits there to this day"ready for the hunt." Yes even "marked" as private property as well. Still looking for the "common Sense" in that one.... So I raise my hands and say.. Guidelines, what guidelines.... Funny because I am from the same area and so have the same reviewer... Not trying to start trouble, but this has been my experience.
  2. I emailed you several virtuals, and postal codes. I just noticed these new caches on ski slopes...... GCT2WD and GCRZGY Welcome and Enjoy your visit.
  3. Thanks Green Achers, It is nice to hear the "Alumni" stories, and the cool thing this year is we all get to visit afterwards and share"Rally" stories at the Banquet. Oh, to be a fly on the wall for that one..... I invite all previous Rally Alumni to Feel free to share your experiences of the Rally here , this may help others decide if they want to attend, and perhaps they may want to ask an "Experienced" Rally Alumni for advice. As Green Acher stated "this is not a gathering to be missed"
  4. Woo Woo, what a hoot this was, even if we didn't make it because of the snow. I have to say Nevadawolf is an awesome driver. We had some neat music..........next thing I know I am mentally kicking myself in the rear for "raising my hand" to volunteer at this Rally............. I want to "Play"...........That does it I am entering next year..... But I am in for this year, I am happy to be a part of such a fun geocaching event no matter what side of it I am on. This event is for everyone, provided they have the appropriate vehicle.....It is all about fun and using your GPS unit to it's fullest. So "jump on in, the water is warm".
  5. Hey California, Arizona, Oregon, Idaho, Utah cachers, Mark your calendars for the 2005 GBES Navigational Rally in Fallon Nevada, May 20th and May 21st . Let us see, how well you can operate your GPS....Nevada has the perfect playground to test you. Join the fun we would love to have you all. Oh, we have a limit on the number of entries, so you best hurry. Hey this invite also goes out to our very own Cache approver in Colorado too. COadmin. "Jump on in the water is warm"
  6. Yes, the Navigational Rally fee has the appearance of a substansial increase this year. But if you do the math, you will see the cool thing here is there are TWO Rallys. Look at it this way....$25.00 per person per Rally compared to last years ($30.00 per team per rally or $15.00 per person per Rally)....That is not much change these days....I don't know about my fellow cachers, but I could easily spend this much on a casual day of geocaching after, lunch, gas, trade items, etc. So really, the price I believe is more than fair, and as we all know Nothing in life is FREE.... This is going to be a fun event.......Nevada is the perfect playground for events such as these..."So jump on in everyone, the water is warm" Cacheleen
  7. I agree, unless a TB is physically moved, why log it? Why are they called TRAVEL BUGS? It is obvious that most folks who log TRAVEL BUGS that have not traveled anywhere, are really only looking to up their own numbers. I find much humor in that as really none of the numbers matter, and really who cares anyway. If it were up to me, I'd quit keeping track. It just makes the diehards kind of "Whacky". The counting of finds is a Groundspeak thing, it is not like you get anything for logging these things, If at all, you only become a Legend in your own mind. Woo Woo. Nobody really cares how many finds I have..............and I don't really care how many anybody else has, really it is just....... "THE THRILL OF THE HUNT" that I enjoy about geocaching. happy caching
  8. Well, looks like Aspen, CO is NOT a Geocaching FRIENDLY City, Why am I not surprised....................I do see the similarities with Sante Fe, NM. Been there too. Same vibe. Thanks for the info. I found a couple of caches along the way and one pretty close to Aspen that seems to get found by a lot of "Out of Town" geocachers. That will have to do.
  9. I am planning a trip to Aspen in August. I am so bummed there are no real caches in the area of Aspen itself................ Why? Hey Aspen cachers, anybody out there? I would love to place a few LOG ONLY Micro caches in the area for fun, if I can find a local cacher who will be the caretaker for them........ Any takers? Any Ideas? If I can't hunt them, perhaps I can place them. Cache On, Cacheleen, North Western Nevada
