  1. Hello all, stupid question of the day... I'd like to get all my missing trackables off my "Your Trackable Items" list. What are my options? -I assume TB graveyards are not allowed (i.e. a virtual graveyard cache) -Is the a "collection" I can create to place them in? Any other thoughts? Thanks!
  2. I used to be able to embed maps for a travel bugs' stops, but I can't seem to get it to work anymore. Was this disabled during the great upgrade a few months ago? I used to use this site to do it, then past the code into the TB description. Doesn't work anymore. http://douweosinga.com/projects/visited?region=usa Any alternatives?
  3. I think the OP would almost certainly want to use the model name, if not the manufacturer. I think it would be OK. Guitar Series: Telecaster Guitar Series: Les Paul. I can see that some reviewers might balk on Guitar Series: Fender Telecater or Guitar Series: Gibson Les Paul, although personally I think that would be silly. I guess one persons "silly" is another persons consistent Yeah, actually I was thinking of titling each cache along those lines: Gibson Les Paul, Rickenbacker 330, etc. Perhaps I should email the local reviewer?
  4. I am considering creating a series of themed caches. Each cache will describe a particular brand and model of electric guitar, along with a photo of each in the description. I will not be advocating any particular model / brand, simply looking at the series as being informational to the casual cacher to let them know about some different models It is another of my hobbies, and I just want to create a series with info. My question is, would this be too commercial? Again, not suggesting anyone buy any thing, only looking at it from a "Cool info, didn't know about that." perspective. Any thoughts on things to avoid doing with the series? Thanks! -Toasty

  6. Hi All: After about a month at caching, I'm getting ready to place my first cache, and I had some questions. I'd like to make a "themed" cache. In particular a cache for guitar players. I'd like to load it with strings, picks, and other guitar trinkets. Is this a violation by making it a "commerical" cache? I'm not requiring finders to go to a certain store or place, just would like to have this cached targeted towards people that play guitar. It will be an ammo can, and I'd like to hide it in a public park / wilderness area to ensure access by all. Any other things I should take into consideration? Thanks! -Toasty
  7. Hey everybody: Thanks for all the input! In the end I've ordered the eTrex Vista HCx with the US Topo map. Wish me luck, Happy caching! Thanks again for everyone for your comments / suggestions!
  8. Well, due to the hit and miss operation of the GPS opinion page and the large number of reviews, here it goes... I have been caching with a friend for a short time, and I'm diggin it. Time to get my first GPS. He has the eTrex Summit® HC which is a fine unit. I should note that I generally try to baby my electronic equipment, so a really rugged unit isn't a must. I'd like the SD card option, geocaching mode, and electronic compass for sure, so I'm looking at: eTrex Legend® HCx -This is the least expensive of the options. Since it doesn't have any onboard RAM, does this effect the speed? I presume the controls are the same as the Summit. What maps do you recommend with this unit? Colorado® 300 - I'm really liking the paperless caching that this could do. I saw one at a local store and thought its performance was kinda slow, but the controls were cool. I'd pick this over the touchscreen Oregon model as I fear a touchscreen wouldn't hold up. I've read that battery life isn't great with these, and it is the most expensive of my choices. Are the extra features worth it on this one, or would one of my other choices be a better place to start. GPSMAP® 60CSx -This seems to be a favorite among cachers. Would this be a preferred unit? I would appreciated those with experience adding there thoughts. Thanks in advance! -Toasty
