  1. Excellent. As soon as I hit up the rest of the caches in this area, I'll probably head out to Russellville and Clarksville and toward Little Rock when time permits. I love this area; there are so many caches to keep one busy. And arkansas_stickerdude, I'm a web programmer for Arkansas.Net, so if you need any help with the site let me know.
  2. There are a lot more active forum readers from the area than I expected! Cool stuff!
  3. Add my "me too" to the list. I've had several ticks try to hitch a ride with me. I wonder if they make decent trade items.. hehehe I may have to try your suggestion, shawhh, because my big can of Off doesn't seem to phase the ticks too much anymore. Especially if they are already cozied up in your sock or the seam of your jeans.
  4. Do many NW Arkansas cachers read this forum? I recognize Arkansas stickerdude and Bio-X from a couple of cache logs I've found, but that's about it. I've only been caching for a few weeks now (found 8; dnf 1) but I'm already hooked.
  5. Thanks. I'm aware of the map transferring limitations, and the SporTrak Map doesn't really have a large enough memory for any detail anyway, so the only thing I was looking for was the ability to transfer routes/waypoints. Then I could print off a topo map to carry as backup in case the batteries fail or the GPSr can't contact the satellites for some reason. So with that in mind, do you think the National Geographic Topo! software or even the Delorme Topo would work?
  6. I have a SporTrak Map GPSr and I was wondering what kind of software I can get to work with it. I know that the Magellan MapSend software line will work but I've heard about how inaccurate/outdated it is so I'm a little leary about spending all that money. From what I've seen I really like the National Geographic Topo! software. Will it work with my GPSr? It's not listed on the compatibility page, but they have a lot of seemingly comparable receivers listed. Most of them are "high end" but they list some of the lower-end and older receivers too. Isn't the SporTrak series based on the Magellan 315 with the added WAAS features? If so I think it should work, but I'd really like to have some reassurance before I plunk down more money. Please don't tell me to sell the GPSr and get a Garmin or a Meridian Gold/Platinum. I really really like this receiver and for the price I paid it's not a bad little machine.
  7. Hi there! I'm Tim, and I've been lurking for a while. I've finally decided to take the plunge and start geocaching! I'm getting a GPSr today and if the weather isn't *too bad* I'll hunt my first cache tomorrow! I can't wait!!
