    Gpsr

Hi Fellow Cachers!! We are newbies looking to buy our first GPSr. We found this listing for a current bid of $35: Garmin Model 45 GPS handheld receiver is in like new condition. It comes with these features: protective carrying pouch, 250 waypoints with 10 reversible routes, built-in simulator and user prompts, provides heading, track, desired track, and VMG, sunrise/sunset, ETE, ETA, and other calculations, backlit LCD display, tracks and uses up to 8 satellites for accurate positioning. NMEA 180, 182, 183 interfacing. Also includes a video to teach you how all owners manuals and reference guides to operate it. $30 value and optional mounting bracket and cigatette lighter adapter. . Is it worth the purchase or should we spend more and keep looking? Thanks for your help, SummerK & Henweigh
  2. Hey Cachers! I recently stumbled upon this enticing sport thanks to my friend J. Mo (I don't know his User name yet) and my roommate and I are anxious to get started. We have a small/major problem. We can't afford to buy a GPS for at least another week or two, so we are trying to figure out a way to map the coordinates without using GPS. I have tried some of the websites listed on forum postings, but the coordinates I got from the Cache listings didn't fit in the mapping system. I apologize because I am basically retarded and don't 100% understand the lat/long system. The coordinates for the cache are N 26*50.247, W 080*04.901. I couldn't get that to plug into a mapping system. Can someone explain to me if I am just being stupid or if there is some kind of trick to it? I know the vicinity one cache is in, the Higher Learning Cache near my home. However it is on the campus of a community college, and while the area is only about two blocks, I don't know how to narrow it down more than that without GPS. Can anyone help me? Or do I just need to be patient until we get a GPS? Thanks for bearing with me Cachers, and I hope to get caching soon! Thank you in advance for your assistance! Sincerely, Henweigh
