  1. Same in Germany - Site is online - Log On Ok - BUT IT TAKES AGES FOR IT TO LOAD!! Tried to find a couple of caches today - after 30 mins I had two (!!) printed out. They seem to have some major performance problems.
  2. Hello, There should be a name or number or both on it. Like GCXY123Z (the GC in front is for a cache registered with Geocaching.com. Probably also a name is written down somewhere or it is in a log-book. If you post this information we can inform the owner of the cache that it needs maintenance. Hope this helped. Martin
  3. Hi kieransymes, you HAVE to buy travel bugs because they have a registration serial number that is träcked by geocaching.com. Anything put into a cache is swag (the stuff you trade) and can not be followed online. But why don't you look at - http://www.geocaching.com/track/default.aspx for a start. Best regards, Martin aka BlackforestMarty
  4. Hi tullytoo, it sounds as if you got the wrong format for your coordinates. Check your GPSr to change the format. It should be set to hddd°mm.mmm (e.g. for my garmin). This means latitude and logitude in degrees, minutes and thousandths of a minute. Maybe yours is set to degrees, minutes and seconds.
  5. Probably a muggle thinking it to be funny - or - maybe water got into the cache and it only looks like the real stuff. It has never happened to me but I found some caches in the woods that got water in it and with a little bit of earth or soil it might get a color thats pretty similar to pee. Best regards Martin aka BlackforestMarty
  6. When finishing a report for your boss at work, you wonder where you can log it and are disappointed that you don' t get a smiley for it.
  7. Hi, my cacher name is BlackforestMarty. Because I live in the Blackforest area in Germany - and I'm a lurker. I started off with geocaching on March, 29th 2009. I know this date because on March 28th, I took a course on Geocaching that was held in the town I live in. I have heard of geocaching before an thought it might be something I could like - even though I didn't have a gpsr myself. On March 29th I found my first cache. I needed to borrow the gpsr of my father. I was hooked instantly. I'm really a lurker for serveral reasons. 1. I know I'm new to the sport - so I need to learn a lot. 2. I don't want to post questions before having checked if they hadn't been posted before 3. By reading the posts of others I get answers to questions I didn't know I had... So for a couple of weeks I have been lurking - and will be for some more I guess. Hope this is not annoying to anybody. Martin
  8. Btw, do you know that the german word Holz (as a noun) means wood in english? Just thought I'd let you know... BlackforestMarty
  9. Hi everyone! Well - any guesses why my nickname is BlackforestMarty? Yes.... you all the way in the back - yes correct! My firstname is Martin and I live in the Blackforest area in Germany. And no - I'm not a teacher.... Pretty tricky nickname isn't it? And all that creativity! Marty
