  1. Well, it's up and running The name is "All our Yesterdays - Chepstow" and its GC Code is GC3T4F9 I think it's a stinker - let's see how long till an FTF and just who steps up to the plate Regards and thanks for your help John
  2. Hi schantz, Troutonthebrain and Knowschad Those are all brilliant examples of WHAT I want to do, however unfortunately I am still no wiser as to HOW I actually set about doing it. How do you do all that clever stuff, embedding pictures into the text of your cache description, rather than just loading a load of images into the gallery? Your examples show it CAN be done - now I need to be taught how to do it myself Any help with this practical problem greatly appreciated please Best regards Jasper - not a technophobe, quite good with computers actiually, but flummoxed by this problem
  3. That's great - many thanks I gave it a bit of thought and came up with another solution - I've embedded a link to a Skydrive album in the cache details - I actually need to use about twenty pictures ! You'll see what I mean if it ever gets published - All our Yesterdays - Chepstow Thanks for your help regards Jasper
  4. Hi everyone I am developing a new cache here in South Wales and I want to include a series of local photos, the order in which you come across these sites on a defined route gives the co-ordinates Problem - how do I include these photos in the page for developing the cache detail? Jasper
  5. Well thanks everyone - that's all very useful stuff AND it explains why sometimes my Blackberry won't charge from mt lighter jack and at other times it will - I'm prob trying to use the GPS USB cable instead of the charging cable - or something like that How do you know all this stuff ??? Thanks again - I shall be nerdy and stick a label on the right cable, saying "GARMIN ONLY"
  6. Hi there Having just purchased a new Dakota 10, I decided to load it up with geocaches before my trip to Eurodisney last weekend. Oh dear - nothing I did would make the software recognise that the Garmin was attached to the PC by a USB cable I was about to give up and send it back when I had the idea of trying a different cable - stupid, i know but just in case. Guess what - I found the cable that came with the Dakota, noted that it said Garmin on the business end where it connects to the PC and .....BINGO ...... instant success. I really thought all USB cables were the same - but perhaps not - maybe some internal connection is a little bit different or something ?? Any answers please Jasper
  7. Sorry Nick, but no piccie or link published Rgds john B
  8. When I first started I was getting the same kind of frustration, but realised it must be my equipment or technique that was at fault. I had a rather elderly GPS and worked out something rather clever. I found a clearly identifiable landmark in my garden using Google Earth then logged its co-ordinates - then I placed my GPS there and left it for a few hours to ensure it had received the best possible info from the satellites. Comparing the recorded GPS co-ordinates with the Google Earth co-ordinates revealed a substantial error of around 20 meteres (60 feet). Luckily my GPS was able to be re-set with a correction factor and, after that, it worked great. I have now added a Garmin Geko 201 but still use the original as a backup or in case of battery loss I have tested the Geko the same way and found it 100% reliable to within a few feet, but I'd recommend a simple check like this to anyone worried asbout not finding simple caches where everyone before has been successful. Best rgds and good luck John B
  9. Hi Robin You could pop into your local modelshop and get those small tins of paint used to paint plastic models such as Airfix and Revell aeroplanes and tanks etc. Full range of colurs - not going to melt the plastic and lots of examples of camo patterns etc. on display Good luck John
