  1. I'm looking for a simple way to simulate money in my Wherigo. I would need to be able to do the following. 1. Have an NPC give the player a set amount of money (Say you give the book to the merchant, he gives you a $100 reward) 2. Have the Player give an NPC a set amount of money (You buy a sword for $60. I don't need to track the money an NPC has) 3. Have the player choose how much money to give to an NPC (How much money do you want to give the beggar?) 4. The Inventory has the ability to show how much money the player has. With #3, I would then like to be able to do something like this: If the player gives less than $5, the beggar steals your sword If the player gives between $6 and $9, the beggar says "Thank You" If the player gives over $10, the beggar gives them a very useful clue I'm using the Earwigo builder if that makes a difference.
  2. I am working with the Urwigo builder, trying to make a more complex cartridge and have two questions. 1. I am trying to simulate conversations with an NPC. It would be something like this. You see a barmaid... Followed by conversation topics (Setup as commands with dialog entries) [Ask about the drink specials] [Ask about the food specials] With the idea that if you ask about the drink specials, she will say "Grog is 5p per glass" and then take you back to the conversation. [Ask about the drink specials] [Ask about the food specials] It seems to work okay with the Garmin, but on the iPhone Wherigo player, after asking about the drink specials, it goes back to the main menu showing the Zone, Characters, Inventory, and Tasks. I would like to keep the focus on the barmaid. Second item..... I am simulating 5 cities in a country: Arrowhead, Barrow, Chesterfield, Delta, and Emp. They should all show up when the player is not in any of them. If the player makes it to Arrowhead, all the cities should be de-activated, and replaced with Arrowhead-Bar, Arrowhead-Castle, Arrowhead-Market. When the player leaves Arrowhead, then the 5 cities should be reactivated and the zones inside Arrowhead disappear. Is there a simply way (rather than having to hard-code Arrowhead.Active=False, Barrow.Active=False, etc) and just deactivate ALL active zones (then I can just activate the necessary zones). This would also allow me to create an item that will "reset" the players location to the country side, showing all the cities, in case they quit the cartridge inside a distant town and are say 40km away and don't want to drive all the way there just to exit the town cleanly. Does that make any sense? Can anyone help?
  3. I can't log in either to download a cartridge I want to test. If I go to My Home, I can log in, but when I select one of my own cartridges so I can field test my signed in state doesn't carry forward.
  4. OR - after say 20 logs in one day from one IP address - start requiring CAPTCHA's every x logs - where x is a random number. If the logs are coming from the iPhone or Android app - they are not subject to the CAPTCHA. Premium members get up to 100 in one day from the same IP address. I'm guessing bots don't become PM.
  5. Around here we have a log book that is also a trackable and goes to all the local events. And none of us would ever consider challenging an "Attended". Too many other, more worthwhile things to do (like finding caches).
  6. When submitting caches that use a lot of HTML I find the window is very small. For basic HTML it works ok, but when I get a bit more ambitious on a cache listing it becomes very difficult to see what I'm doing with only 1/3 of the screen width being used. It would be nice if they could free up on the white space on the right at the very least. Increasing the height would be good as well (or allow us to change the size of this window). Yes, I will write the initial page in HTML elsewhere - but I find I always need to do a bit of tidying up so make the cache listing look right, and the small entry screen interferes with that process. Or is it just me?
  7. When looking through some of the bookmarks I keep for certain challenge caches, some of the entries are disapearring and reappearing. Running Vista 64 Ultimate, SP2 Happens on both Firefox 3.5.3 and IE 8 Here is one bookmark: http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...3b-e1fbca23b328 It tends to loose anything prefixed with 05 or 06 (the prefix indicates how many caches I found that day). And another, in this case only the Tregarva and Zehner caches disappear and reappear. http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.a...b4-3647d9e30f32
  8. How about ammo cans and lock-n-locks? I don't think ammo cans and lock and locks require the same muscle movements as child proof bottles or using a pen.
  9. In my area there is a cacher who uses stickers because of his disability. For him, I have no problem with the sticker. I'm not sure how he opens child proof pill bottles. . .
  10. In regards to shorthanding my general form I won't. Until they arrive at the park, they won't know which letter they need - that will also come from some information in the park or the sign. I'm thinking Multi - fair warning that it may take a little while when I say it's a 15 stage multi.
  11. Here is my basic idea - a "tour" of some parks in my city. Final co-ordinates are N AB CD.EFG' W HJK LM.NPQ 1. I post general co-ordinates of 15 parks in my city as waypoints to help cachers find the park. 2. Inside the park they must obtain information from a specific sign - The waypoint posted is NOT the waypoint of the sign. I tell them what information they need from the sign - For example, John Smith died in 198G or The sign is exactly 6Q2 meters from Cache GCXXXX. There would be variation in the tasks. 3. With the information, they fill in one of the letters in the final co-ordinates 4. Once they have all the co-ordinates they can go get the cache. So, would you call this a Multi or a Puzzle?
  12. I am planning a new puzzle cache and am not sure how to rate the difficulty (Terrain is easily a 1). If it was a traditional, I would call it a 1 - I'm deliberately making some that are accessible to a group of wheelchair cachers that I am trying to introduce to the sport. However - I'm thinking the puzzle they need to be solved is very challenging. Many of these people are SHARP when it comes to thinking. Should I rate this cache as 1 - What the cache would be if it was a traditional 4 - The puzzle is quite challenging 2.5 - Somewhere in the middle Thoughts?
  13. Until now I have been using my blackberry 8830 GPSr with the Trimble Geocache Navigator for geocaching. I have been using the Radar display and enjoy it. Well, the free trial is now over and I have to decide what I'm going to do. One thing I notice is that the accuracy of the GPSr on the blackberry looks it it has a error radius of about 10 meters when I even think about being underneath a tree. Is this normal? What would be the range of error on a stand alone GPSr? I'm thinking of an Etrex Vista HCx or something like that. (Not sure if that's the right word, but you know what I mean right?) I've heard of electronic compasses and some people don't like them? Other than possible battery life issues (I will use rechargeables, and carry extra with me), why don't some people like them? Looks like a good idea to me, especially if I let my daughter navigate us to some caches, she can just point in the direction of the arrow, rather than have to try to figure out which way is SW (she's 8).
