  1. Another vote for the Oregon, I've got a 300 with maps of the national Parks.
  2. With the Garmin Discoverer mapping I don't get any at any level of map zooming, or the track log. If I switch the OS map layer off and resort to basemap, then they are there and working fine. It seems Garmin don't test their firmware with Discoverer mapping - as I guess they do their development in the US? Jon. Has anyone reported it to Garmin?
  3. Widely circulated on the Internet is that it stands for "Gentlemen only, ladies forbidden". Snopes has an article on this, which suggests that "golf" isn't an acronym, and hence doesn't stand for anything (other than, perhaps, a good caching opportunity ruined!) Geoff ding ding, spot on!
  4. Sorry folks, thought I'd join in without having read through the thread! Well remembered though Fianccetto!!!!
  5. Right, here goes: Marie Curie won 2 Nobel prizes, what were they for and in which years was she awarded them?
  6. B A Baracas - aka Mr T. Or the man of the Snickers advert!
  7. I've got a pair of Salomons ankle boots which were brought earlier this year. Very comfy and completely waterproof and lightweight. Before this I had a pair of Zamberlain boots which were fantastic and lasted me about 7 years. The Zamberlain's were tougher but also heavier and hotter. As others on here have said, you need to try a few pairs on and see what suits you best. Also depends on the state of the terrain your on - if it's a nice warm, dry day then I'll still wair trainers unless I'm out for a long walk. My partner has a pair of merrells - they seem very good too. Also, another vote here for Go Outdoors, they have a good selection and will also beat any UK based internet deal by 10% - providing it's exactly the same (including colour)!
  8. Hi, I've got a Garmin Oregon 300 which is great for Geocaching but I also want to be able to download routes for using on a mountain bike. I've found a couple of websites which offer downloadable routes with GPX files but I'm unsure how to download these to my GPS, if I try and open them then I get a page full of jargon! Do I need any additional software on my PC or am I just being thick? Any help would be gratefully received and also any pointers towards decent websites for finding bike routes. Thanks, Cash-in.
